InCYde Zone - Bye Week Episode Feedback

Hey gang!

With the bye week coming up, I was wondering what you all would think about us doing another mailbag episode. Same format as last time. You all send your questions to me or even the boys and we do our best to answer as many as we can.

Just thinking ahead and wanting to stay proactive. I want to make sure we give you a good mix of content and a chance to pick the brains of these guys! Let me know your thoughts!

Quick note about Jack Trice's marriage with a photo of Cora Mae

I'm not even sure how this became a thing, but I was asked about this enough a few times this past week so I figured I would set the record straight.

When Jack Trice married Cora Mae, she was NOT 15 years old. Not even close. She actually graduated high school a couple years before Jack. She was probably 20 when she married Jack and it wasn't uncommon for women to fudge their age to be younger. (Marriage certificate listed her as 19.)

Wikipedia and many other stories have this wrong. Is anyone on Wiki - change it?

Since I'm here I also thought all of you would enjoy seeing Cora's graduation picture, which is not online (see comment #15). I have the full one somewhere. It's something that really helps drive home the tragedy. That's the face that Jack was looking at when he died. I should mention that Alex at the Ames History Museum put together an excellent Jack Trice exhibit a few years ago with correct info (sans one quibble) throughout. Seriously, it's great. Go see it.

DAILY CLONE: Big 12 Awards, Rocco 5-1 in Rivalry Games, Golesh Cooking

On a 3-0 Monday edition of the Daily Clone, Jake Brend tells you the latest Cyclones to take home Big 12 weekly awards, how Iowa State has turned the tide against their biggest rivals and what rising star head coach Alex Golesh had to say about his time in Ames.

Presented by Fareway Meat & Grocery in the Northwest Bank Studios.

Oh Boy. Things in Butch-land are not well

Dearest Cyclone Fans,

A most dire missive I pen to thee this eve. The battle at Little Rock took quite a toll on the men. They remain brave, but the spectators are wrought with woe. Some fear our season is doomed, lost to the annals of stubbornness and NIL. Our captain, Lyle Allen Jones, inspireth not. His untoward plans to attack continually in the middle of the battlefield rather than on the edges is bewildering. Our coverage softer than my dear Edna's bussom. We feareth that the time for high hope is no more. Please send care packages and milk.

Fellas - this ain't good. I should start by telling you that the Arkansas game was made worse by a couple of very bad ref calls. Calls that even the announcers were pretty adamant about. 3 led directly to either scores or scores being wiped off the board. I don't in any way mean to tell you we didn't get hammered - we did. Arkansas scored 28 points in the first 14 offensive plays. But the final probably should have been something like 49-21. I say that, but the truth is Arkansas could have easily scored another 2 TDs if they had really wanted. The final score didn't matter, because with everyone watching we simply looked like we didn't belong.

The truth is, this was a very bad night for Arkansas State. Much worse than many realize, and with way more implications than one game. We lost a ton of respect as a program in the state, and looked completely outclassed in almost every facet of the game.

If you had asked me a year ago, I would have told you that your upcoming trip to Jonesboro would be awesome. I'd probably be hyping up Raynor to Rucker. That attendance would be great, that you'll be impressed with the stadium in person and our fans. I am not so sure of that now. The weather looks hot and it's a 3PM game on big boy tv. I can't count a long list of folks who don't have any plans to go.

Butch has lost an average of 3 games per year by 28 or more points. He hired a DC with only 1 year of FBS experience - also the youngest DC in the country and he appears in over his head. Our lines are barely average, and we've lost our star RB Cross to ACL tear last week in practice. NOBODY is excited for this game. We know how good Iowa State is and I think our appetite for getting blown out is about exhausted. I know I was a lot more peppy than this last year, but I'm just done with Butch. He's stubborn, full of coach speak and empty promises. We are stuck with him for a while though because our program rewards mediocrity.

To those of you that are coming, I really hope you enjoy the trip! I still think you'll like our waterfalls. I'll be checking in here in case any questions pop-up.

*** 2025 College Football Survivor Week 3 ***

127 made it to week 2, 10 were eliminated so 117 remain.

A reminder regarding tiebreaker points: If your team wins and covers you gain an extra bonus point. If you take a undefeated team who is the underdog you gain the point for them covering plus another bonus point. As the season goes on the number of teams undefeated being a underdog greatly diminish so take advantage while you can.

Taking a double digit underdog who wins gets you 3 bonus points

3 teams plays 2 FBS in this time period Fresno St. Hawaii and and Sam Houston State. If you take them before their first game they will need to win twice for you to advance.

I will be using ESPN's Lines. Line will be the line at kickoff for tiebreaker points.

Bringing back the reward for top finisher other than bragging rights. Since this is a contest on Cyclone Fanatic I like the idea of the reward going back to helping ISU athletics.
For the top 3 CYCLONE Fan finishers (Hawks fans are as always are welcome to play but this is a contest on a Cyclone fan board) I will donate $75, $50 and $25 to @brentblum and We Will on your behalf.
