Band does not choose when to play, they are told when to play. See: headset being worn by director.

IMO, the best half time act is always the ISU drum line type group that does the woop woop faster song.

I do give ISU props for having the men's choir do the National Anthem, that was great.
The national anthem was incredible. And that's coming from a college kid that doesn't really care about all that stuff

Yeah, I realize that...but seriously?? Were you there? It was really stupid timing.

I was there. I'm not saying your wrong, I'm just saying you should blame the athletic department(?), not the band/director.

Also, how about that win over a top-20 team? :)

Look, most of the time on here, I'm the one defending the band...corny as they are. The timing of that just annoyed the living heck out of me, as close as that game was getting. I'm sorry if I blamed the wrong source here, but let's be realistic...the AD wasn't holding the baton.

Pax?

Men's Chorus at half would have been much better for everyone. The AD could have cut a check to them for half of what they paid those guys and it would have been a win for everybody.

The REALLY bad timing was during pre-game, so you wouldn't have heard it, KC. They're playing "Uptown Funk" over the speakers, and just before it hit the horn section of the song, they turned it down and the pep band started playing. With the popularity and universal like of that song, it should be played in its entirety.

I heard someone say the exact same thing walking out last night. (Although I don't think it was you NWICY) I would have been all for it.

Who gets more unnecessary flak on this board, Matt Thomas or the pep band?

Last night was the first time I can remember being angry with the band. Most of the time I laugh or ignore them. But at the last time out, we had a really strong "Cyclone" "Power" chant going, and it was still building...and the band director decided to play Cyclone Aerobics right in the middle. Totally killed the moment, and not very many joined in with the band. He should have just left it alone and let the chant build.

At least they switched the order at the end of the game. 53 seconds left and the band was playing something, and it was abruptly interrupted by Turn Down For What cranked to the max.

So how'd that fill-in spot directing the pep band go for you Monday?

Oh man, that would be awesome. Sadly, I was watching from my nosebleeds.

AD meaning athletic department, not Pollard. I'm not sure, but I think that timing is all scripted before the game starts, which may be biggest problem. Somebody on this board has to know.

...they weren't holding the baton, either... :)
