The bottom line is do people in authority believe masks work, or do they not? I have seen a lot of people claiming that masks are the magic bullet to stop the spread. Not convinced myself, but what I think doesn't matter in the least.

Well, guess that got answered quickly. Sucks for those of you that had tickets to the KSU game.
I don’t think this effects ISU, since we were already required to wear masks at the stadium.

Has contact tracing shown that people at Jack Trice are spreading the virus?

I think that would be your answer right there. If not, no reason to penalize people who are acting responsibly. Wearing masks and social distancing.

It’s the ones who aren’t who are the problem—and I don’t understand why people can’t get that simple concept through their heads.

There is not contact tracing in this state, so we have no idea.

Unless Iowa does it better than Minnesota the contact tracing is a joke.

I was mildly surprised that the Baylor game didn't have any further restrictions or scrutiny.

At the end of the day masks are a risk reduction tool.

Let's say during a period of low community spread your odds of getting it were 5%. Combine that with an 80% risk reduction from a mask and suddenly you are at low risk below 1%. However, when you increase the spread that's out there, that still changes the overall risk level. 10x increase in spread increases the risk for mask wearers 10x too. So you're still safer with a mask but at that point you need to be employing other measures to maintain a low risk level.

It's weird because it seems like distancing is easier at a youth game than a collegiate game.

Outdoor, with masks, 15,000 limit? I don't think there's anything to suggest undue risk there, so I'd say no change, but it certainly doesn't help the prospects of increasing the total that can attend.

With two games left I'd think they'd want to keep the logistics the same for staff, etc. to be efficient.

We've been in some tiny schools and gyms for basketball tournaments, even with 2 fans per athlete with how many teams are often there it would get crowded fast.
