Took a trip to SF this weekend to watch Brock play. While I was there, I rented a car for a day, and the only thing they had left was a Chevy Volt.

I was pretty impressed. I hadn’t given much thought to buying an EV before driving the Volt, but I definitely would consider purchasing one now. It was smooth as silk and the acceleration was incredible. The range was about 250 miles between charges. Since we only drove it about 150 miles, I never had to charge the vehicle so I avoided that issue. My wife was concerned about taking the vehicle on a long trip, requiring multiple charges. However, I would still own a gas vehicle for that purpose so I don’t think it would be an issue.

Not going to go out and buy an EV tomorrow, but I would definitely consider getting one in the future.

The exciting thing about EV's is the amount of brain power that is focused on development of better batteries. It's just a matter of time before a lot of current concerns- range, material sourcing, etc. are overcome.

Here is link about Our Next Energy (ONE) and their work to address many current consumer fears. It going to be a fun time to buy a car over the next decade.

Yes or stable. Right now what keeps fuel prices high is the refinery capacity,

I also think electrical costs are going to go up significantly in the near future due to demand. Infrastructure costs money and the US doesn't have it.

Gas prices will increase as demand lessens. Oil producers and corporate shareholders expect a level of return on their investment. Gasoline is inelastic over short periods. So as usage decreases, the price must go up to keep profits high.

Am I the only one that enjoys driving? This self driving future saddens me.
Driving used to be a lot more fun for me. When I was younger I loved the freedom to get out and get places and do things adventurous. Now I mostly drive the family around, go to work, and run errands for the house. If I could hop in and the car drives me around to do these things I’d be ok with that.

There is a difference in driving imo. Long distance travel can be tedious and boring, having more help to ease the mental drain of staring at a road for hours on end is welcomed by most. Also you can always disable it so you can go full “manual” if you want.

I see there is a 24 Jeep Cherokee. That'll be something to consider for me in a few years when they are used.

I just did a build and price on their website. I chose the cheapest and only added the tow package. It was $62655.
There’s a 4xe grand Cherokee right now.

I was kind of in that rut 10ish years ago but podcasts have really helped me.
I feel like they can really help long drives and keep your brain churning and eyes on the road.

But it also goes up when demand goes up. What the hell is going on here!?

That is without a doubt my favorite part of the Mach E. Ames to Minneapolis the most I have to touch the steering wheel is passing otherwise it does all the driving for me.

I drove CyRide in college and it broke me forever when it comes to driving. If I never had to drive again I’d love it.

I would have made it maybe 3 hrs doing that before cussing out jaywalkers.

I believe lane changing is coming to Blue Cruise some time next year.

Mach E is great. I chose to keep it over my Model Y, which I’m going to trade in to get a Rivian.

I had Tesla FSD for 4 years and hardly ever used it. I enjoy driving myself as well, especially if it’s a car that drives like a Mach E GT.

But I have found the Autopilot on Tesla and Ble Cruise on Ford very useful on longer highway drives. I feel like I don’t get as tired if I use them for parts of a long trip.
