$5.50 for a dozen eggs?

I can go to Kwik Star and get them for $.50 per dozen right now. Not joking.
I found a whole case of eggs under a bridge last week - perfect condition. None of them missing. None of them cracked. I mean, who in their right mind throws away a perfectly good case of eggs this day and age?

I assume you mean a carton of eggs, not one of these:

I grew up poor and I find myself easily paying a little more for things that I eat and drink. We do try to be more frugal on the big ticket items like vehicles. We try to only have one car payment at a time so we end up keeping cars for around 10 years. That being said, I'm a big-time bike snob and won't skimp when it comes to the bikes I buy and the parts I put on them. That's not to say that I'm extravagant, just that I will pay more for the quality stuff.

Cereal.

I don't eat cereal because I think it's disgusting but my wife and children practically live on it. I do all the grocery shopping so they have to make do with Malt-O-Meal brand. They ***** constantly about it because they want the "good stuff". It tastes exactly the same, IMO!

Malt-O-Meal at Menards, they had the big bags for $2.50 last week.

Weird thing that I have noticed: I live in the Cedar Rapids area and the NE Walmart has milk and eggs very cheap, much cheaper than the Marion Walmart. The Great Value chocolate milk is $1.60 to $2.20 a gallon. White milk is even cheaper, lot $1.20 for skim. Just seems weird, but my kids go through a lot of milk.

I love eggs, Charlie. And I love boilin' denims and bangin' whooores, and if someone doesn't like that about me, then they can get out.

Actually 30 dozen is considered a case, 360 eggs = case.

Semantics I know...

Yeah those $.41 and $.50 cent eggs are killing the industry right now...glad we have contracted price on liquid

That's why I was clarifying what tim redd said. He said he found a case of eggs under a bridge. I was doubting that was what he meant.

I will say my opposite of "cheap" is when I buy Vinyl. The recent increase in popularity of Vinyl has caused a lot of prices to rise where I usually purchase my records. But if I have a record I want, I rarely look at the price tag. It's surprised me when I get to the counter a couple of times, but I never back out for some reason haha

I buy cheap cable from Monoprice

I buy two year old cars that are not probably considered cheap but they are 1/2 the price of new.

I'm pretty cheap when it comes to vacations but I think this just comes down to research. I don't limit the city by price but I may stay 5 miles outside of city center and pay $10 to have Uber get me there.

I have friends that constantly say I'm cheap but I just look for deals. It's also what your cheap about. They have a 10 year old car with over 200K miles but don't blink an eye at spending $500/night for a hotel room in NYC.

Live on farm. Don't buy hamburger, steaks, bacon, pork chops, chicken. Don't buy eggs or veggies. Don't buy salsa or spaghetti sauce.

We've lived in our house for almost 2 years now and have a folding table and bag chairs in the dining room (and no eat-in kitchen). We always eat dinner in the living room while watching TV so I don't see the point in spending hundreds of dollars on a nice kitchen table yet. I keep hoping a relative will be getting rid of one that we can inherit. We also have an empty spare bedroom with no bed.

two spare bedrooms for us. No beds. I think some family probably find it annoying because it precludes attempts to stay over but we have no reason to drop the $$$ on it. Kids probably going in there in the future, no need for adult sized furniture.

I'll spend money on most anything with a focus on quality. Will gladly spend more for many things - custom hiking boots and Q-tips for example. I easily dropped $800 for custom boots after I lined up the other 10+ pairs of hiking boots collected each of which caused some sort of foot pain and limited my hiking enjoyment.

But furniture - GAWD I can't bring myself to buy furniture of any sort, new or used, in style or out.

If you have to buy something, buy something that has a good chance of lasting. And no, $$$s don't always equate to quality.
