Yeah, I was taught it by somebody who was in the band in the 80s. It is at least 30 some years old. Probably older.

I seriously think it changed from that to the current profane version sometime during my student years from 97-01.

I remember chanting both versions and kind of being "oh we say that now huh?".

FYI at least at one time the university was close to having this song removed due to the language used by the students.

Yeah, I was in band during that time, and I remember the director and others asking us to encourage our fellow students to not chant that because they were about ready to remove it entirely. Of course my thought was like "why the hell would they listen to us?" But hopefully it's toned down some since then?

When was that? I was in school in the late 80's and at ISU games regularly to the middle of the 90's and I had never heard the f-bomb version until well after that time.

I don't think it is any more clever than the original but I can see why 18-23 year olds are enamored with it.
