I was watching a new tv program the other day and was immediately struck by its intelligence. It is called "Bodkin" on Netflix and about a reporter that was always chasing after the most dangerous story, got in trouble doing that, and her publisher needed to get her out of danger. So he finds a position assisting a podcaster doing a story in Ireland which he expects will be safe but turns out to be the kind of danger that the reporter thrives on. "Genius" and guess what? The producers are Barack and Michelle Obama, I always knew Michelle had it in her. I think I will check out some more of their productions which are under a label called "Higher Ground".

The Bosch series is pretty good if you haven’t checked that out. The newer one, Bosch Legacy, isn’t quite as good. They’re releasing the last season of that right now.

Anybody else watching "Yellowjackets" this season? Specifically the season finale that just dropped?

Just finished Baby Reindeer followed by Adolescence. Both really impactful in their own right. Baby Reindeer does take a really dark turn from dark comedy to dark dark. Love that actress from when we've watched The Outlaws. Best way I can describe Adolescence is just raw, ground level emotion.

FYI for anyone that has been streaming content from someone that has a Plex server. If you have a free account and are streaming content for free from a friend's server apparently you won't be able to do that much longer without a paid Plex Plan subscription. And the rates are going up on 4/29: https://www.plex.tv/blog/important-2025-plex-updates/ So if you have been streaming content for free from someone that hosts a Plex server the best thing to do is buy the lifetime subscription now at $120 before it goes up to $240. Read the "Upcoming Change to Remote Playback for Personal Media" portion in that link about remote playback.

Bodkin is quirky and pretty funny. Very underrated show.

Bosch and Bosch Legacy stars the guy they just introduced on The Equalizer as the lead in a spinoff of the Equalizer that's set in Atlanta. It's really unclear whether the guy is the lead or the actress who plays his adopted daughter is the lead. I guess CBS hasn't made up its mind if it wants to do the series or not, so they had this pilot for the show tie into the plot line of an Equalizer episode to gauge the response.

I was so disappointed by the ending. Apparently that was the final show and is likely not being renewed.

Separately, Dope Thief on Apple is simply awesome! Anybody else picked this up yet?

That would be a huge disappointment if it's not renewed. Regardless of how one felt about the quality of Season 3 there is still plenty of the story left to be told, and to have it end on a cliffhanger like that would be complete and total b*llshit.

I mentioned Dope Thief on Apple+ a couple of posts back, but also really enjoying MobLand on Showtime/Paramount+! Quintessential Guy Richie production!

Man I need more free time White Lotus, Andor, and Last of Us. Id also like to start Wheel of time. I am caught up on The Studio though. That show delivers so funny and it is so uncomfortable lol

I have 2 coworkers that have PLEX servers that have a lot of good content we stream so I bit the bullet and just did the $120 lifetime so I don't lose access to it. I mean it essentially pays for itself within a year or 2 especially with the price hikes coming soon. Beats having to subscribe to multiple streaming platforms to get stuff I want to watch when they already have it on their server. Started streaming stuff when I didn't want to pay for an AppleTV subscription just to watch Ted Lasso. If you know someone that hosts a PLEX server is a great deal for everyone really.

I'm in a similar boat. I guess I'll just need to get the subscription. We use it all of the time. And yes, the person who hosts the PLEX server that I use is a king among men, as far as I'm concerned. That reminds me, I used to send him Omaha Steaks periodically as a thank you. He probably about due for another.

I just saw that "Ragnarok" had a 3rd season come out in 2023 that I totally missed! I will be trying to catch my wife up so we can do season 3 together. This is a modern-day Thor story with a legit Scandinavian production, if you aren't familiar.

If you like that, you'll probably also like "Katla," which is about some alien supernatural stuff happening around an active Icelandic volcano. It came out around COVID times.... I wanted the show to keep going, but honestly the ending was pretty perfect as a miniseries.

Both are Netflix, IIRC.
