Do you ever really truly want to like a show that the masses seem to love but you just don't get the hype? I have tried to like White Lotus and I just...don't get it. It's a bunch of nothing.
I like it okay. I certainly wouldn't watch it if my wife didn't want to though. Not really sure how else to describe it other than it has a common vibe through all the seasons (beautiful destination, fairly interesting people/actors and an overarching murder mystery).

That’s gotten rave reviews too. But I think the subject matter might be a bit too heavy for me with a 4 and a 1 year old at home
It's really well done. Every episode is a continuous shot which to me increased tension watching it. And I just read that they actually did shoot each episode as one continuous shot, which is wild. I assumed they did some creative editing of stitching shots together to make it look continuous, but apparently they're actually legit one shots.

I just watched Adolescence on Netflix. Only four episodes, but as a parent that was a pretty harrowing watch.

The wife and I watched this and both felt cheated out of 4 hours of our life afterward. There could have been so much more done with this. At the end we both looked at each other and were both irritated with the entire thing.

What more? I thought they handled the subject really well. In the UK they're making it available to stream in all secondary schools to raise awareness of the issues.

Did the kid do it? I know at the end he ultimately told his dad he was changing his plea... great. So then WHY did he do it? The only thing we were told as viewers is that there were ultimately some emojis used to intimate that the kid was being labled an incel. So that was it? Emojis? If there was more to it then what more was there. There was just entirely too little meat on the bone. If the point was that it takes nothing to set off an adolescent kid then make that case, which wasn't done. It was just sloppy and incomplete.

That whole school was a bunch of A holes. Thats what stood out to me the most. Thought the acting was top notch and generally enjoyed the show, but yeah, I want to know more. And maybe that was the effect they were going for, make your own judgement. The kid clearly had anger issues, some jerky kids pushed his buttons. But hey also made it seem like a couple of his mates could have done it as well. The video "evidence" was never actually shown to us in detail. His shoes and outfit werent enough. They didnt have a murder weapon and they didnt have the clothes. So much missing yet. Glad I watched, glad it was short.

Spoilers for anyone who hasn't watched:

Yeah he did it. The parents talked about it at the end but it basically came down to his parents giving him a computer with unlimited access and pretty much zero guardrails, and he got sucked into the toxic incel/misogynistic rage against women ****. The cops even mentioned Andrew Tate at one point. It was showing that exposing an adolescent brain to that kind of stuff is dangerous, especially when you pair it with the temper he apparently got from his dad. She was bullying him and after being indoctrinated with that toxic mindset it didn't take much to set him off. I don't think the show intended it to be something like a whodunnit mystery, which honestly I was kind of treating it like at first.

Anyone watching The Studio on AppleTV? I’m not sure about it yet. The premise seems decent. I just hope every episode isn’t just Seth Rogan making an ass of himself for 30 minutes straight.

It’s got a ton of cameos and a good cast.

I heard the same story also about one continuous shot, if true, the penultimate episode with the boy and the psychologist was amazing. Props to that young actor.

Wife and I also found it interesting and engaging, but very troubling. Ugh, social media and bullying just makes my heart hurt.

** Edit - Took us most of the first episode to identify the dad as Al Capone from Boardwalk Empire.

Yeah Reacher wasn't good but people seemed to like it. I don't get it either.
The Reacher series has been like the books. Not great, but I have to see how it ends. I just finished the 3rd season and it wasn't great, but I liked it better than the 2nd season.

Really? I much preferred season 2 to season 3. Reacher sucks at being undercover, so the whole season felt awkward. The countless tactical and procedural blunders by him and the DEA agents were just baffling. And FFS, no one cares about Teresa.
