Wow, there's some young folks around here. How about "good" old Schaefer or Dubuque Star?

In the mid-80's those were my go to cheap beers. I seem to recall a case of Dubuque Star bottles selling for a little over $5 for a case.

It was like 5%, funny now that we thought that was high ABV beer. Picked up a growler of Boulevard Rye on Rye on Rye the other day, that is 14.5%

I think the college version of high ABV was mad dog 20/20

and that stuff is a guaranteed black out and the worst feeling ever come morning

Keystone Light is the obvious correct answer. Bud or Miller Light if I was out drinking at bar. However, anything with Ice in the name is absolutely horrible with The Beast Ice being quite possiblly the worst.

As I got older in grad school definitely graduated to Leinie's, pretty good and not real expensive.

A bunch of us had a stupid contest to who could drink a bottle the fastest. When one hit a minute, me, we made it you just had to get under a minute.

Started out with Keystone Ice, upgraded to Natty Ice, and eventually matured to the point where Natty Light was sufficient.

But we would also peruse the fire sale any chance we got & would end up with a flat or pony keg of something disgusting. Taste was a distant 3rd in importance behind cost and ABV..

(also, where's the poll??)

Dad bought some Picketts once. Can't recall if that was before DBQ Star, or after. But it was so bad he couldn't drink it.

This was a man who had a full barrel keg in the basement fridge of Old Style Light.

We must have been in school at the same time. America's Only Fire Brewed Beer. Yeah, you could get 30 Keystone for $7.99, but you could get the same deal for Stroh's. Everybody drank Keystone, and would often help themselves. Stroh's, however? People would double take on that stuff. Wrinkle their nose and find someone else to mooch from...someone with Keystone. Those who would drink Stroh's, well, those were people I could hang out with.

When we were buying 30's of Stroh's from Hy-Vee they had their own brands of hard liquor. That was some cheap and ****** stuff. Also, tons of Icehouse, Red Dog, Miller Red. A guy at Keg Shop used to sell us all of their expired beer, those were some days.

Keystone, High Life, Busch Light, like you all mentioned.

Circa 2002 we picked up 2 pony kegs of Doc Otis for $15 total on fire sale.
We had a lot of parties that actually had females. Genius idea.

It was awful. Pickett's was 1970's to maybe early 1980's. I'm not sure who got the brewery after, I think maybe they sold Dubuque Star label both before and after, heck maybe even during. Old boyfriend would bring it back to school from Dubuque. Dreadful.

One sip of Mad Dog 20/20 would make me hurl. Also awful.

Thunderbird aka Kickin' Chickin', was also cheap but I found it less offensive.

Worst crap I ever drank was Wild Irish rose. I could stomach mad dog, but this was a wino's drink. Not sure what that crap was but won't touch it again.

Saw nighttrain and think that might be comparable.

Anyone remember when HyVee had their own branded beer, sometime around late 90s. Admittedly those years are a bit fuzzy.

HyVee Regal i believe, cheap 30 packs.
