LOL you're just looking to whine don't know if Bob screwed your wife/gf but get over it. Tj got us to the sweet 16 last yr and we are closing in on making the tourney this year I think this staff knows way more about successful bb than a bunch of keyboard coaches.
Think he ran over his wife and had his way with his dog!

I'd say 2.9 rebounds for a 6'10-611" post player is terrible over 16-18 minutes a game. He also has hands of stone and doesn't do a good job of securing balls that he comes down with. He also has no ups, only compounding that problem. I don't think one could make an objective argument for him being anything more than a substandard rebounding presence.

You are right about the TCU game, I meant the OU game (had their order of occurrence flipped in my head). He was plodding and forcing his moves, ending with 1-5 on the floor, 3 rebounds, 2 fouls and two points in 17 minutes. This was one of the games where Osun was unnecessarily taken off the floor. He had 12 points, 8 boards (FIVE offensive), and 2 blocks in 23 minutes. Why was he taken off the floor, let alone for Jones (who was terrible)? We need to be conditioning Osun to play as much as possible, only taking him out when foul trouble (and breathers) necessitate.

Jones getting 17 minutes in that game was mindboggling. It quite frankly almost cost us the win.
You have occasionally decent observations, just curious why they're all so very wholistically negative on our guys?

Started with Kunc, but since he's been out it's transferred to others.

Is it possible to recognize limitations in a players game, appreciate the positive contributions and voice those in a balanced/reasonable manner. Particularly if you're rooting for the team those players play on.

Thoughts?

Stalker alert - My family and I were eating at Blaze pizza tonight for a PTO fundraiser and the whole basketball team walks in. Osunniyi looked totally fine. No boot, no limp, nothing. Even his knee seemed fine!

You must have missed it when I lavished praise on Grill, Lipsey, and Kalscheur, and Holmes recently (not forcing the issue as much the last few games). I also like what I've seen from Tre King thus far, especially with his defensive versatility.

I've never been a fan of Jones and see him as a minutes eater as the game necessitates (rest/foul trouble). When he is bad he is atrocious, often forcing shots/offense, committing fouls, and lacking general awareness. He also has very poor hands, often losing rebounds and loose balls because of it. He's a solid one on one defender in the post, but awareness and lack of athleticism hurt his helpside defensive capabilities. When he gets the ball on the block and is decisive (making quick decisions) he can be effective in spurts.

Kunc is much more valuable but he also suffers from poor hands and awareness. Several times he gets a pass, has a chance for a rebound, or goes for a loose ball only for it to bounce off his hands. He also has poor awareness when it comes to blocking out, being aware of backdoor cuts, and generally being ready for the basketball. His short to midrange jumper can be excellent, and he's very active when he's on the floor.

Simply put I find both players to be frustrating and often lacking fundamentally sound play and awareness. Once of he beauties of this team (by and large) is that they have been playing excellent fundamental basketball, particularly our wings, in shot selection, rebounding effort, and making good decisions. On that note I've liked what I've seen from Holmes in that he isn't forcing his offense as much (lower volume but similar results).

I also firmly believe Shoon has a lot more in the tank, in terms of capabilities, than what Jones has to offer. Thus far he's been limited by stupid fouls/foul trouble, something he needs to clean up, but he has also been prematurely pulled (in favor of Jones) in games he abstained from foul trouble but was still wildly effective (on both ends). He needs to learn to play the majority of a game without getting into foul trouble, something we really haven't allowed him to try/do. If we aspire to get to the tournament and do real damage, I think Shoon will be one of the keys. A guy with limitless pick and roll potential, great athleticism, and (potentially) a feared rim protector.

IMO Jones is a 10 minute a game fill-in who should only get more time as foul trouble dictates. I also REALLY like what I've seen from King on both ends of the floor. In general we need Lipsey, Kalscheur, Grill, Holmes and Osun on the court. Rotation, (when healthy), of Kunc, King, Jones, Watson/Ward.

You make fair points above, but I disagree about Jaz. He would not be rebounding at 6 per game with his size and frame if he lacked awareness and didn’t box out.

The above poster just has it out for those players like many have it out for others no matter what.

It's weird and really took hold last year for some reason. Like Thomas was the scapegoat for a few years but I don't remember the insistent dragging him through the mud like he'd wronged people.

Is there something relating to Osuns health in these photos? I don't think I see him in any of these. Maybe that's the point?
He may be in the one with the bigs shooting free throws. Appears to be next to Bob Jones

Have to zoom In

^ Wildly missing the point. We know how much wrong you see in their game.

Do you think if you were a supremely talented 6'11" shot blocker that can play above the rim, but may lack some toughness finishing on offense or avoiding silly fouls, and you were splitting mins evenly with a much less talented big man that looks like sideshow Bob, that might light a fire under your assto activate that potential?

And if it doesn't that might say something about the belief that "the value of potential > grit and energy" may be flawed?

All that to say, I trust TJ and his assessment and you're going on mute.

I didnt' see anything happen to the knee (if so I suspect a floor knock) but the ankle definitely rolled inward. My immediate reaction was, "oh ****, he's out for 2-3 weeks" as I figured it would balloon once he quit moving around and took his shoes off.

We need him against Kansas. It's a possession we hold a decisive advantage in and need to capitalize on it.
Looks like Osun has a knee brace on in warm ups.
