Lots of juco's.

What exatly is that model for a newbie?
It's more than jucos. The Snyder method also involves playing mistake free football. It means executing at a high level and controlling those things that you can control. He runs his program to make the most of smart, hungry guys who want to show they belong at the P5 level. It means total focus in game, with emotions under control. Basically it is a lot of things that that last staff here struggled with.[/QUOTE]
Now, that sounds like what I watched for 5 years at Toledo. It didn't happen overnight, but got there eventually.

K-State has never won 12 games in the history of their school. Is our peak any lower than Iowa, KANSAS, or Kansas State? They've all won 12 games in the past 10 years.
I don't believe that will be the model unless Campbell comes to believe he cannot recruit hs seniors needed to be successful. He is getting some now to fill the gaps his staff presently sees as important needs.
Hope there is more peak than this.[h=1]What is the peak for ISU's football program?[/h] The hire of Coach Campbell. I believe there will be gradual improvement in the first two years. I'm predicting 4-5 wins year one and 6-7, year two.
Iowa state has beaten Iowa in the years Iowa won the big ten and has won 50% of the games recently. So I am sure Iowa state could play with the jaugernauts of Indiana Purdue Illinois Minnesota Iowa and northwestern.
ISU hasn't consistently beaten FCS and MAC schools.
Actually, neither has Iowa. Or did you just completely forget about Northern Illinois and Central Michigan?
I have been wondering this lately and would like some input from the folks here. While this site has varying opinions on almost everything (and that's good), we can all agree that Iowa State will never play for a National Championship in football. In fact, I am convinced that with the balance of power and built-in advantages of southern schools, that Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, and Oregon are the only "cold weather" programs that can do it.
Would be curious to hear the thoughts. My opinion: I think a 10 year period with an average of 7.5 wins per year would be phenomenal. This would likely include a couple 9-10 win seasons along with a couple of 4-5 win seasons.
The SEC is the best league in America, but you could argue ISU has one of the toughest setups in that they are a cold weather team in a warmer weather conference, and getting enough athletes on the defensive side of the ball to stop Big 12 offenses is challenging.
Your thoughts?
Western Michigan in 1999 and 2007, Central Michigan in 2012 and Northern Illinois in 2013 are the only non Power 5 teams that I can remember beating Iowa in the Ferentz era. He has not lost to any FCS schools.
I would hardly call that not being able to consistently beat FCS/MAC teams.
I have no clue the answer to this but how many FCS losses does ISU have in that same time frame?
I have no clue the answer to this but how many FCS losses does ISU have in that same time frame?
So according to Hawk fans on here Iowa State has 3 FCS losses since 1999 and they can't consistently beat FCS teams but Iowa has 4 MAC losses since 1999 and they consistently beat MAC teams?
McCarney didn't lose to a FCS school, but he did lose to the following mid majors since 1999: '02 Boise St, '03 N. Ill., '05 TCU,
Chizik lost to a FCS UNI team and to Kent St., Toledo, and UNLV in his two years
Rhoads lost to UNI and NDSU, and also Tulsa, Toledo, and Utah
So 3 FCS losses, and 9 Mid Major losses during the timeframe CoolHawkeye was talking about. By my count ISU has gone 12-3 vs FCS schools since 1999. They are 16-9 vs Mid Major schools since 1999.
That record vs Mid Major is disappointing, and one of the reasons the overall records aren't better. We can't keep dropping games to those teams, we shouldn't have lost to Toledo this year.
