Spent a whole summer in the mountains living in a school working for a non profit home repair ministry. We had no TV, had to share a vehicle (with no AC) no AC in the school, very limited dial up internet, and it was one of the best times of my life.

Having no tv is not that bad at all. I used to go up to my grandparents house during the summer and they had no tv or air conditioning. We just found other things to do while we were up there. There are actually alot of things that i could live without but it would take awhile to name them all

Now that you mention it. I can live without AC and Ice. I don't need either one.

I have never owned a cell phone. I value my privacy more than being available 24/7.

I haven't watched television for a number of years. I have satellite television only because my spouse insists upon it.

I didn't have telephone service at my residence until last December (it was not offered). I would not have had it installed but my spouse demanded it.

I want as much time as possible for leisure, recreation, reading, and writing. Everything else is a distraction and takes away from things more important.

This is definitely an epidemic among women. My wife and one of her friends text back and forth all the time. I always say, "why don't you just call her? You can discuss the same thing in about 1/10 of the time!" For some reason, she just ignores me though.

So, our youngest teenage daughter is away to a leadership conference, and my wife comes up to me with tears in her eyes. I'm all worried and stuff, but my lovely bride sputters something through her tears about her daughter "texting" her from the conference.

Evidently it's something much more special than "calling."

I "get" the "teenaged daughter who still likes her mom" thing. Don't get how texting is better than talking, though.:skeptical:

Oh, I guess I haven't contributed to the thread on my own "can do without."

Just look at alaskaguy's list. That's pretty much, mine.
