I expect we will see a little more intensity on defense this evening. Will have cyclones.TV streaming to the big screen up north here.

You can't look too much into Drake's opening loss. They played at home against a good South Dakota team that is loaded with 10 upperclassmen on the roster. Drake was in it right to the end before SD sealed the deal at the line with seconds left. Drake is picked to finish third in the conference by the coaches. Clark (last year's MVC player of the year) and Wendell (co-MVC frosh of the year) are on the MVC pre-season all-conference team. Drake will def put up the three even if we defend it. Last season they made 287 treys on 832 attempts (we made 276 on 836). They don't have a lot of height, but have enough to cause us to pay attention. Not a great free throw shooting team and that could be where a big difference can be made. Don't expect this to be an automatic win for the Sisters, but in the end I expect this one to break wide open if we pick up the D and play our offense. If we have an off night shooting...then its anyone's game.

The three stat is interesting and certainly is something Cyclone fans can identify with.

Jonas is only a freshman, but is a pretty good post. Her along with Clark and Wendell played for very good HS teams in Missouri. I think Wendell played in four straight state championship games with Blue Springs but never won a title.

Drake is 2-18 from 3. Those 2nd and 3rd shots off rebounds for Drake are conspicuous but misleading - we lead on the boards 31-21. We're shooting 46.9% and Drake is at 20.6%. I don't know how much credit our D can take or how Clark's absence is affecting this. We did have some lapses giving up wide open shots that they missed. We need more work on getting inside - in the early going Brynn's 3's kept us going.

This is really bad. A better Drake team (IMO) got killed by essentially the same players, sans Hallie last year. Fennelly has no offense against a zone. The effort on defense and the boards has been really bad. Why not play Jordan? Our posts have been terrible. All that time in the second half while coach sat there with his arms crossed, might have been better served doing some coaching.

Not very impressive.....giving up 46 points in the 2nd have to Drake.

It seems like all ISU shoots is 3's and has no clue, or plan on how to get the ball inside against a zone.

20 turnovers - seemed like more. Good to get a bad game out and still get a W. Durr looks great - arguably the best game for our team.

We don't have any post players, so it is hard. ISU won't have a prayer of beating Iowa playing like this.

We might of been in trouble had clark played tonight. 2 rebounds from the post position against a team that is small in the post is really troubling. Few positives though several in double figures including Durr - hopefully she can play like that on a constant basis, and nikki almost gets a triple double.

I think there are lots of factors at play.

A. Only one day turnaound
B. It is hard to be focused, any team, when up by almost 30 pts.
C. The officiating was very tight, which has me scratching my head because Catner and Mattingly are not usually that way.

I did like running Moody out of the high post, and Durr is the real deal.

What was up with Jadda tonight?

Also, It is so frustrating to me that Nikki has a few errors that look so bad, because we see her ceiling could be very high.

The few bright spots include Nikki's near triple-double, Brynn's improved all-around play and Johnson's consistency. Bre appeared more Froshlike but still did O.K. Maybe Durr's 14 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists with only one foul was most newsy.

We did have an answer to the zone...its called attack it by the guards. It worked effectively in the first half. Its also called hitting your outside shots to force their hand. We also did that in the first half. Him sitting there in the second is called coaching. Sometimes your players have to figure things out on their own. Especially when they are coached during timeouts and don't bother to listen or execute. This game will be a REAL learning experience.

Must have been just when I was watching, but Moody looked like a TO waiting to happen. All of her passes were soft and lazy. Just don't remember her passing like that last year.
