Cous, thanks for the write up.

I would have liked to see more intensity in getting the ball into the post. Yes, looked like they were trying, but we need to figure this out. I like the looks of Bria's shot, her touch, confidence; she needs to use her size when going to the whole.

We did have an answer to the zone...its called attack it by the guards. It worked effectively in the first half. Its also called hitting your outside shots to force their hand. We also did that in the first half. Him sitting there in the second is called coaching. Sometimes your players have to figure things out on their own. Especially when they are coached during timeouts and don't bother to listen or execute. This game will be a REAL learning experience.

BF said the second half performance was his responsibility. Bet the players hate it the next day when he says that:smile:

I get the impression in early games clunky play and slow starts are because the players are thinking too much about what Coach wants. Sure they work it out in practice but come game time the crowd, the emotion and going live starts the gears grinding.

I wonder if quicker substitutions would help. When a player makes two fairly quick turnovers, we have players to substitute with. When players don't get rebounds we have players to substitute with. I don't think he needs to keep them out forever, just get their attention. Lack of attention to detail, underestimating your opponent are a problem. I figure the blame goes everywhere, because it is a team.

That said, I am not too worried, I am more worried about getting all of these players playing time. One can't help but like them, including Maddie, and Jensen and the freshmen. I think they all can contribute. Look at Maddie for instance. She has obviously given every effort possible to get into a position where she can help the team. Jensen is the same. They have overcome some major obstacles.

I'm probably the only one but I think Maddie should get more minutes. She's been in the system for awhile and when she has gone in has looked pretty good. The freshman will be fine but I think they just need some time.
