Sort of why I didn't include total scoring, total defense and FG %, those are too skewed early by differing levels of competition. Rebounds to but the #'s for Iowa and ISU are so similar to last year that those 40 rebounds per games seems legit.

I won't put much stock in NET's of Iowa/ISU or the NET of teams they have played. Early NET ratings are "developing" scores since they only include the games this year and nothing else (very small sample size) and can lead to some wild outliers.

Even with so many sophomores we are the more experienced team especially when it comes to playing together. Iowa is trying to incorporate a whole new slew of starters (one being their keystone player) and freshman. Olsen missing a couple of games probably hurt that development. Maybe offset by having so many away games early though. NET might later trump voted polls but voted polls are actually more accurate at this point of the season now that we are a few polls into it.
I generally like to just present the data and let people draw their own conclusions.

Something smells with the line movement.

Saw it initially at 10.5 and has dropped to 7.5 in 2 hours. Seems Vegas made a mistake in the initial line and the public is correcting it. Wouldn’t be surprised if it were down to 5 or so by tipoff.

I wish I could be more positive. Iowa by 15+.

Our offense consists of Emily dribbling in circles looking for someone to get open.

Our defense consists of standing around watching our opponents and then halfheartedly throwing out a hand as they drive past.

IMO, all of Iowa's returning players have improved. CC and KM were monumental losses, of course, but everyone has stepped up and they are playing complimentary basketball and are a very solid, well-rounded team.

I love Bill, but we are the same as last year. No one has improved. Audi will not take the next step unless she learns to shot fake. Until then, she will always turn and go up for a contested shot and get blocked often. Blows my mind no one has tried to improve her skills. Jan Jensen probably lays awake at night thinking of what she could do with Audi.

I'll just differ with you. I see a team that has moved the ball much better. The assist to made basket numbers attest to that. The only slow person on defense against driving guards is Tanke. Otherwise I think our guards usually defend quite well. Am rather surprised how well the back up posts defend. I also see us as a team that is aggressive on the boards which could make a big difference. Are we the most athletic team out there? No. USC showed what a top tier athletic team looks like. But Iowa isn't exactly the road runner either.

Some days it seems like this board is just hoping we lose. Appreciate you.

Saw someone on the Iowa board posting some of the models people use and they were all in the 7-10 point range. Not sure the predictive models have enough to go on this early in the season to be very accurate. I thought that 10-something was a bit much for what I think is a pick'em game. Something like 4-5 points for the Hawks for being at home with a big crowd would be reasonable. And rivalry game so who knows! I am still firmly in the pick'em camp.

I think this is a likely Iowa win, but +350 odds is way too high with as little as we know about these teams.

I just don't want to see an ISU implosion. I walked away last year feeling good that our youngsters almost took down the CC led Hawks. We have one more year of experience and has been noted, the "guns" for Iowa are now gone. They have Olsen, but no one that shoots as soon as they cross half court.

We definitely have the edge on talent but I don’t think Bill is going to out coach anybody anymore.

Made me look. Lucy Olsen is not shooting as much as she did last year. Interesting because Olsen is sort of a volume shooter. This year she is around 15 FG attempts per game and last year she was 20/game. Clark was around just short of 23/game last year, only year she was over 20.

Guess it is pretty obvious I find this game a very intriguing matchup, better than just the usual rivalry thingy.

Guess we know now why that line stunk.

Just saw this. This HURTS big time. But the plus side is we have quality players unlike in years past. Who steps up? Is this Joens' turn to really take over a starting spot? We’ve seen Tanke and frankly I don’t think she’s ready yet. Harris is an option, but she has been hit and miss all season. BIG opportunity here for one of those players.

I think Joens has a big night tonight, too. Plenty of juice returning back to her old stomping grounds.

If Hansford was even 1/2 the player she was for Oreg St, the loss of Hare would sting a little less. I keep hoping that Lily will have a good game which gets her out of her mental & shooting funk to help her become a consistent role player for the rest of the season.

Joens averaged 19 minutes a game as a freshman so she's no stranger to playing a bigger role than she has had so far this year. And Fennelly really likes Tanke (she maybe starts tonight?) so I am guessing those are the gals for Hares minutes.
