If we don't look forward, all I'm going to think about is how sad I am right now. This team's run ended too soon. So, back to drinking the Kool-aid and dreaming about our Final Four hopes.

There's always football season and Matt Campbell and Co. are serving plenty of Kool-Aid shots, and it actually feels legit this time, I swear!

If we can land the right transfer(s) or Juiston, it's not impossible.

If we only add 1-2 more role players then I would say next year is all about setting up the following season.

What I do hope for is that we never have to see street ball one on one again like we started this year with. If we can avoid that and play decent defense again I'll be content with the results. That was some of the most unwatchable stuff I've seen since the W. Morgan years.

I feel really good about the core of returnees and the recruiting class so far. Really need to finish that out strong. Hard to predict the level of success for next year in terms of wins and losses and tournament possibilities at this point. I believe in our staff though, and absolutely expect them to get the best out of our kids, and to improve throughout the year. Will it be enough for a post season appearance? Who knows, but I'll be there cheering again for all I'm worth.

A tourney berth would be a pleasant surprise but I don't think it's a longshot.

A game like tonight's had to have really made Solomon Young's confidence level skyrocket. He was over matched but I thought there were times where he really held his ground. That's huge moving forward for him. The times where he gave up baskets will make him want to work even harder than he has over the course of the season. I guess I'm looking for some positives after the loss, but I really think this game will give Young something to help build on.

I love Solomon's gritty play, and think he'll be a really good player for us, but we badly need a big man that can be a serious scoring threat and can create his own looks.

Could be a tourney team. The returners will be leaned on heavily, and how long it takes for them to grow into those expanded roles will tell the story.

Based on what we've seen from two years of Prohm, I'm thinking that by late January he'll still be experimenting and tweaking things, and by mid February they'll be making a push for the tournament.

I'm going to miss the old guard like hell, but I'm excited to see what the new group will look like.

That could still be Solomon, in all fairness. We didn't really see much of what he could potentially do with a bigger role on offense since that wasn't really what they needed from him this year. With a year of experience under his belt, he could be a bigger scoring threat.

Exactly....I wouldn't want to hear any of our recruits' responses to doubting they can make some noise. Four stars don't come to play for a program that concedes a year. :)

I remember thinking that this year would be tough at this time last year. I must say that I get a little emotional about Iowa State basketball. This team had heart and character. I'm hoping that next year's team will have the same passion. If that happens the sky is the limit.

Babb is in his third year of college ball. He does many things fairly well, but he's not going to suddenly get talented on offense. He's basically unguarded now and still can't score.
Can't or doesn't?
It's been since 2014 that he's been in a position to. He needs some PT in which he's a primary option

We lose a hell of a group of seniors, that gave it their all.

Time to hit the reset button and hit the recruiting trail.

Do we have what it takes to be an NCAA Tournament team next year?

Way to early to look at next year? The continuity of success within a program is a pipeline of good recruits that encompass the entire year......year after year.

Earlier this season I was really concerned about the PG position. Jackson's development throughout the season makes me feel a lot better about what we'll see next year.

From what I've seen so far, Babb will be a good role player, but he's not going to be a guy that we can lean on to get buckets. Those buckets need to come from incoming guys. That's where the unknown comes in.

Ultimately, if this team makes the tourney I really think there needs to be a switch to an inside out system. Young and Lard need to be scoring threats to open things up.

Non-con...

Missouri (away)
Iowa (home)
UNI (neutral)
SEC (home)
Puerto Rico (3 neutral)
5 other cakewalk games at home

I think we can go 9-3 in these games. With the what we have returning, and Hilton on our side, I think going 9-9 in conference play is also attainable. So somewhere around a 18-12 record and a 5th-6th place finish in the Big 12. That should be enough for a 9-11 seed in the tourney.

Things we know.....Jackson, Young, and Babb, are a good core that got valuable time this year. They also were tutored by some of the most passionate cyclone seniors ever. We also know Prohm is a good coach and recruiter who is committed to building on and expanding the success we've enjoyed the last 6 years. Looking forward to watching next year's team come together. Oh, one more known....Cyclone fans will do their part! Go State!
