Guys-
Did you find it odd that TJ cancelled his head coaching interviews at the smaller schools he had scheduled? I am not saying it will definitely happen, but when I read that, it sure seemed to make total sense....I think Williams following Matt may have been an indicator as well...

Hope I am wrong, but I have been under the imression TJ is the next head coach since he announced coming back

It sure was an indicator, but not of anything relevant to this thread. It showed us that Williams didn't want to play at ISU, he wanted to play with Matt. It showed us that the kid didn't want to play for a head coach, for some reason (that isn't worth speculating over because it no longer matters), and has no bearing at all on UW, TJ, or ISU.

Personally - I never thought it made sense for TJ to GO to Washington. So it making sense he came back to Ames isn't going to take a "few months".

People are delusional if they think the comment was a Washington thing. Freaking delusional.

everything that has happened since TJ came back supports this:
-him canceling head coaching interviews that he was perfect for
-all of his comments about coming back were about coming "home" and **** like that. Hardly mentioned hoiberg at all. He was talking like a head coach.
-the sudden change in recruiting strategy that emphasizes mid-major talent transfers and regional talent.

Tj obviously told romer that he is guaranteed to be next head coach.

Ahhh, now I see...

I read into Romars comments that Otz will have a head coaching opportunity in the next few months but there is no way he is a "shoe-in" or the obvious choice to be our next head coach. I guess we will have to wait a couple months to see what was so obvious about the Otz leaving Washington. This is silly. Romar should have saved those comments.

Not necessarily...he could have asked Fred if he will be at ISU next year, and if Fred did not state for sure, he went with Matt where he would have some relationship.....who knows for sure ( I doubt either of us), but for you to claim what i said makes no sense, makes less sense...

Wow, this thread is sure something. First thing I thought of was that UW would either have some sort of violation or some sort of house-cleaning with the coaching staff. There is no reason UW personnel would know that Fred will be going to the NBA. That info is usually played to the chest and the Bulls' season isn't over.

Furthermore, there is no reason to announce/guarantee TJ will be the next coach. Even if Fred jumped to the Bulls, what would happen if TJ had some sort of issue or another higher profile coach wanted the job? If JP wanted TJ for the job, he didn't need to lock him up now to his current position. He could've hired him away later.

Sorry, I'm not seeing this as a sign of Fred will going to the NBA within a few months.

Fred is going nowhere. Just think about everything that is important to him/a factor in his decision.
Family, friends, love for his job, genuine caring from the fans, Hilton freaking Magic, his love for ISU and Ames, his health issues, stress, job security, money, etc.

He has a bigger/better support staff in Ames than he will get ANYWHERE on the planet. He is smart enough to know that. His decision is really a Hoiberg FAMILY decision. He would either move the family to Chicago or leave the family in Ames and see them whenever he got a chance. I don't see either of those playing out.

He is in the absolute best place for him right now so...**** the NBA. He will retire before he leaves us. Actually, I think he will replace Pollard when the time comes. 5 years of speculation is getting old.

Lorenzo Romar throws himself some shade for one his top assistants leaving, so naturally half the people on this board freak out.

There are hundreds of reasons for him to stay in Ames and 3 reasons for him to go to the NBA: Ego, to see if he can win at that level, and to get fired.
