I have no complaints at all....if he said or did something you did not like....that is just his style......get over it. He was very complimentary of Hoiberg, the fans, and Hilton. I'm guessing he is sorry it took him 35 years to get here, and I am guessing it will not be long before he is back. The guy loves this kind of atmosphere.

Dicky V was doing Dicky V like only Dicky V can. He's a Hall of Fame broadcaster for a reason, like him or not.

Does anyone else feel this way? ISU takes the lead and Vitale is yammering about some high school basketball rules. STFU ****.

I noticed he couldn't make it through the game without talking about Jabari Parker & Duke. Luckily Dave O'Brien changed the subject before Vitale busted a nut talking about the ACC.

Dickie V was walking around Hilton (inside and out) like a kid in a candy store before the game. Count me as a big fan. He may have an "act" in front of the mic, but you can tell he loves people.

I bet in his head, he wishes he would have been at Chapel Hill to watch UNC lose to Belmont.

DV annoys me but I have also been one that wanted him to do a game here for the publicity.

Now that we have that out of the way and the way this team looks, we will do just fine on the publicity front with or without him. I suspect he will be back - these are the type of games he has made his name calling.

Not a huge **** Vitale fan, but he was great tonight. And he was very complimentary of Hilton and Iowa State.

Oh, and he basically talked about how Johnny Orr "kicked his ***".

I thought he was great - spoke highly of Hilton, talked about his history with Johnny, he was very complimentary of Melvin, and Kane. You could tell he was having a great time in Ames.

Didn't he have some health issues like that not that long ago? Maybe I am mis-remembering, but it seems like he did.

Good call, I had forgotten about that. From wiki:

On December 18, 2007, Vitale was diagnosed with lesions on his vocal cords. He underwent successful surgery and returned to announcing on February 6, calling the Duke-North Carolina game on ESPN.

I have to say, as much as I don't care for his over the top routine usually for blue bloods, his coverage and the media coverage of the game tonight was nothing but glowing for ISU in many ways, the past, present, and future. The announcers and the media pieces on Orr, Fred, and ISU history were awesome. We should be jumping up and down right now, that not only did we win, but that we had 2 hours of awesome coverage of the ISU basketball program with the sport's headliner.
