its funny that jerry palm's article is called "predicting the bracket" and then he qualifies by saying its a version "as if the season ended today."

so its not really a prediction.

Most recent brackets from a few different sites, not including Lunardi's.

Sexy match-up in a great city. I'd take this one in a heartbeat.

Sports Illustrated's bracket, updated yesterday. Interesting match-up.

Which makes it even more dumb that K St is a 9 seed, we are are 10, when we beat them and have a two game lead on them.

I said RPI mistakenly while trying make the point on the actual selection because higher RPI teams often are passed over. Missouri State 21 RPI as an example.
Yep, you are right. Several higher rpi teams have been passed over in the last 8 picks. In the end, humans pick the last few teams at the bottom and not the rpi necessarily. The Mo State non selection was a shocker that the humans made.

Since the rpi is made so much about SOS, and opponents SOS, the non conference season for the B12 is a major decider in the end on how many teams get in from a conference.

After conference begins, teams have made their bed already as a conference. The only way then to move up is to carve out wins against your conference mates.

The PAC Ten screwed themselves this year in non conference and may be lucky to get one team.

They will for sure get one team.

Are you really in if you have to play the play-in game? :wideeyed:

California is 21-6 on the season and has a projected SOS at the end of the season of #95. That speaks volumes about the quality of teams in the Pac 12.

Iowa State is projected to finish with an SOS at #40 and our non-conference SOS was absolutely pathetic.

Non-conference SOS is a pretty enlightening piece of information. Iowa State's non-con SOS ranks 281st in the country. Pretty bad huh? It is until you see who ranks below them....

New Mexico #286
Stanford #293
Minnesota #301
Mizzou #313
Virginia #317
Arkansas #334
Cincinnati # 338

The highest ranked BCS conference team is Duke at #13. The next closest BCS conference team to them is Kansas at #51.
