ISU was eliminated in a road game by the team that beat UK for the championship without one of our star players so yes we are all aware of the title game. You can probably pound sand about how awesome it was for #1 seed WSU to lose to Kentucky in the second round last year given ISU got dealt a tougher matchup in the sweet 16 down a key component.
Those types of upsets happen frequently even to "power" teams. Look at the cream of the Big12 in just the Bill Self years. Kansas has lost in the first round as a 3 seed & 4 seed. They've also been the overall #1 seed (WSU wasn't overall #1) and lost in the second round.
Cute?
You know, as a UNI fan, I still like ISU and Hoiberg. But I don't get the elitism. I think all the teams in our state ought to have respect for one another at this point. Though experience tells me that the cesspool in Iowa City is unlikely to find its was to being respectful. Anyway, let me give you some friendly suggestions of reasonable, respectful replies to Gary Rima's statement:
1. "Gary Rima is such a homer. He admits it. He loves his team - glad he can believe in them."
2. "You may love your team and believe in them, but executing is another thing. We love our team, too, and they got the better of us in Kansas. Beating those teams in their houses is easier said than done."
3. "Hope you get the chance. I think you know you haven't had many chances like that so far this year - and you lost the one at VCU. Though it was a close one."
4. "It's amazing that a school like UNI could be in a position to make those claims and potentially back it up - even if it would only be 3 times out of 10. Keep winning!"
5. "It just does not make sense that a MVC school should be able to claim what you're claiming. Beat a school like ISU or Kansas? Come on. We're P5. Have you seen our recruits? Facilities? etc.? But then I have to remember that the longest thread (ever?) on CycloneFanatic involves outrage against an audacious claim by an NDSU fan that they would beat our Football team in 2014. We thought they were nuts then, but they did it. And we thought it was ridiculous that UNI fans claimed they would have the best running back on the field in 2013... and it turned out to be not so ridiculous. So maybe you guys know your team and your ridiculous claims aren't so ridiculous now..."
I don't understand how you can even argue that you'd beat some of the best P5 schools in the country at their own place. I really don't.Cute?

UNI fans can talk about what can happen or what might have happened had they played one team or another, but they don't play anyone in the Valley. That's why their SOS of 116 represents the worst of all the teams ranked in the top 25 of RPI.
KU, who apparently many UNI fans think they can beat, is #2 RPI and #1 SOS. OU is #13 RPI, #5 in SOS. ISU is #16 RPI and #21 SOS.

In other words UNI would get destroyed by all of us. (KU, OU, and ISU) especially on the road. If they played all three games, I would guess the loss margin would average out to about 15 points.
So not much different than ISU in those two road games?
This entire thing is about Rima predicting wins at both KU and OU. That's the point here. There's probably less than a 5% chance that that would happen.
And that's really worth 19 freakin' pages? Granted, I probably have at least 10 posts on this thread, so I'll make this one the last one. Anyway, if any fan base (or bases) is going to be so full of rage at what an admitted homer said about his team and their ability to hypothetically win on the road, hell, it should be Kansas and Oklahoma.
