I know that we're having a great season, mostly better than last year, but this roller coaster play is nothing like we've seen since Hoiberg got here

I respect you for putting your name out there like that - it takes some guts to do that.

It's just that I don't understand what the article was. It pretty much came off as you having a mental breakdown about the season not going your way and telling us about it.

I wanted a conference title. I think we had the potential to do it and I am disappointed that we weren't able to do it. But, I can still sit here and enjoy this season and this team. They are fun to watch and we are competitive and relevant on a national stage. As a complete program, we are probably in the top 15 - we are in a good place right now.

That just wasted my time. Wheres the content? It was 20 seconds of where is this going? I just don't know about our fan base sometimes. I mean, if people want/need to go back to the McDermott years in order to realize where we are now as a program by all means do. I went to a few games during those times, they scarred me for life.

We can be critical, but not over critical when we don't even play the game or have anything to do with the outcome. We have a top notch coach, a ranked team and a venue that has national relevance. Seriously, some need to get another hobby between games.

Started out 14-0 last year, lost three in a row, bounced around most of conference play-- very up and down-- then won five neutral site games in a row before losing to the national champions. That was rather roller-coastery.

Fred has been tremendous in putting together teams with significant losses each year, but there have always been stretches where they seem to struggle to find their way. I think that is perfectly normal. This year's stretch is coming against a tougher Big 12 than we've faced in a while. The potential is there to win these games, but none of them will be easy.

It was more of a piece to say look how good we had it last season with Niang, Kane, and Ejim and how little drama we faced

well that didn't come across to me. It came across as a panicked rant about how awful this team is. Also last years team had some negative drama including the fact that they consistently fell behind by 10 points in lots of games.

amen. I like how he ignored several very good wins this year. Arkansas, iowa, Kansas, West Virginia, he'll even Oklahoma state.

He'll even what to Okie State, I'm waiting on pins and needles here. And who is he?

Ummmm, with Royce we lost at Drake, beat two top ten teams, then went toe to toe with Kentucky for the majority of a game in the tourney.

in 12-13 we lost at Tech, smoked Notre Dame, and got screwed against Ohio State (final 4 run possible?)

Last year we lost 4 out of 5 in a stretch in the Big 12, got embarrassed at WVU, then won the conference tourney and made a heckuva run in the NCAAs.

This year we have had ups and down, just like every other year. Your statement that this roller coaster play is like nothing seen before under Hoiberg is totally false and proves that you don't have a clue what you are talking about.

I am actually thinking you are a Hawk fan here to troll us, to be honest.

It's not like I'm blind to those, no one is, but what is the benefit for bringing those up in the article?

Clearly no benefit at all if the point of the article is to paint as bleak a picture as possible. Calling out specific players as the root cause is something of a low blow as well.

I want that conference championship as much as anyone. But I do NOT want to see us become that fanbase...the one that EXPECTS to win everything, and will never be happy with anything less, even if it's 100x better than what we had in the preceding 8 years...

Go on, got an argument for it being crap?

are you a journalist or a blogger? From the former, to what appears to be the latter, be careful how you answer. And if you are a journalist, or ever have thought you were, stop asking for feedback. Write it with conviction and sit back and own it. Otherwise, you're just a ***** with a pen.

You've got moxie for putting your name on it though. Like was said before, many people today, most of this forum included...me included...aren't putting their names on their opinions.

Let me get this straight:
2013-2014 after 11 conference games we were 6-5
2014-2015 after will conference games we are 7-4

2013-2014 - after 11 games got destroyed at WVU, lost twice to KU, lost at Texas, lost at OU.
2013-2014 - after 11 games, terrible loss at TTU, lost by one at Baylor, lost at KU and lost at OU.

I must be missing something in your rant because we are actually better off than a year ago.

Serious question, how old are you? If you've been around awhile you should know that college basketball programs go through up and downs. Even within each season. It's quick turnover supplying 5 starters and a roster from year to year. Fred has been here 5 seasons. Yes he has had quick success, but what if he has a down year and doesn't make the tournament? That does happen you know. Each team will be different based on influx of players, team chemistry, injuries, etc.

Fred's teams also get better when the tournament nears. Just some bad luck has surfaced last couple of years that didn't go our way. So calm down, take a breath, and enjoy the ride.

Sorry, but you seem to be confused about how the season has actually gone. Saying the last four road games (three of which were against ranked teams, and then the inexcusable loss to Tech) did not go how you expected, makes you sound melodramatic, ESPECIALLY when you consider the fact that we weren't good on the road last year either and you continually compare this year to last year.

I feel like I've posted this about a thousand times in the past couple days... ISU went 3-6 on the road last year, beating the 8th, 9th and 10th best Big 12 teams and losing to the top 7 (minus ISU being 4th, obviously). This year we lost to the likely 10th team, but have beaten a 3rd-6th range team and still have four more road games to go.

Basically you're overreacting BIG TIME to a road loss. Calm down.

I would agree. The only real difference between last year and this year is the way the team has finished games out. This years team much like last years team seems to enjoy getting behind early... the same as last year. It feels different because last years team was able to erase some significant deficits to comeback and win games while this years team in some losses has gotten behind and hasn't been able to close the gap much.

Overall the results have been very similar as far as records go but it just feels a little different because of how they have got there.

I'm actually only a junior in high school, so I'm used to the national program mentality if you could call it that

Your issue, in my opinion, is that you don't know what pain is (remember Buffalo Bill yelling down the pit at Catherine Martin). The McDermott years were pain.

ISU is about to make the NCAA tournament for the fourth (4th) straight season -- FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER. How about we enjoy that? I'm sure plenty of schools out there would love to have Mayor coach them up, and probably many NBA teams.
