They filmed in Calgary and said KC looked more like it than Pittsburgh and they wanted the events of the next episode to be further along in their journey.Enjoyed the episode again but did I miss why they were going through kc because that's an awful path to Wyoming.
Yeah, and I definitely wouldn't describe Ellie as whiny. On the contrary she's extremely tough. She's definitely got attitude though, and early teens are full of that. And Ellie's sense of humor reminds me so much of my daughter. She loves to tell bad jokes and puns and hear me groan about it, but I also kind of laugh. That dynamic between Ellie and Joel in the show really hit home for me.Guessing you haven't gotten to know too many early teens. That's how they are. All of them. Including you and me. Most grow out of it thank god.
Got ya and I'm sure 99% of people watching have no idea how out of the way KC would be on that trip. They filmed in Calgary and said KC looked more like it than Pittsburgh and they wanted the events of the next episode to be further along in their journey.

Yep, I've got a 17yo, 15yo and nearly 14yo and the character reminds me a lot of my kids. That age when they swing between a goofy kid and a serious adult on an hourly basis.Yeah, and I definitely wouldn't describe Ellie as whiny. On the contrary she's extremely tough. Kids not listening? Well I never!I think most posters here miss the point. Maybe the description of Ellie as whiny might be off, but when I said she gave me Carl vibes, it is because Joel gives her instructions and literally 10 minutes later she is not listening and doing the opposite.
Very irritating. If you can’t see the similarities, kinda dumb.

I thought the same thingwhy would Joel travel with just a bolt action rifle and a revolver. He had access so all kinds of weaponry when they were at Bill's house, but he didn't take any of it. In an apocalyptic situation I'm thinking you need guns with high capacity clips.

At some point he made a comment about the ammo for assault rifles and similar weapons are very hard to find. He even left one behind in a stash house because of it.why would Joel travel with just a bolt action rifle and a revolver. I agree with this. I've never done the math but I always wonder on those zombie shows where there is hordes of undead zombies and people can just easily mow them down. Wouldn't the math eventually have their numbers pretty low?Joel is definitely the type to stick with what he's comfortable with, and what he knows is reliable. He's doing everything he can to avoid situations where something like high capacity clips would be necessary.
That's one of the things I like about the approach they've taken to the infected in the TV show. It's not the walking dead where they casually killing 1000's. Joel and Tess, who definitely are treated like the badasses of the quarantine zone got into a fight with 2? clickers and it was a frantic fight that ended in disaster.
And in the game they went through Pittsburgh so following that route wouldn't be a stretch to go through KC. It still bothers me a bit that they don't make more of an effort to avoid big cities but then I guess there wouldn't be much action. Its a few hours out of the way. But that's assuming normal travel. There could be areas that Joel would want to avoid based on FEDRA\hostile groups\infected
I thought about this and I'm guessing it has to do with not having lots of readily available gasoline and what is there has degraded so vehicle range is limited. Staying on main highways means more cars to siphon from and less distance to travel. And in the game they went through Pittsburgh so following that route wouldn't be a stretch to go through KC. Not anxiety, flashbacksAnyone else get some anxiety imagining navigating a cross country road trip during the apocalypse on some old paper map.
