Just wanted to give a shoutout to all those people doing the whole Thanksgiving thing alone! I'll be joining you this year.

On my list:
  • Find a newspaper to checkout which Black Friday stuff I'm gonna buy for myself (already got the gifts I'm giving, thank you Finish Line)
  • Attempt to finish a 1.5 liter bottle of wine by myself
  • Play GTA5
  • Cook my Thanksgiving Dinner for one: Roasted Turkey Thigh with a Baked Potato and Green Beans
  • Watch Football

You should have bought yourself a pumpkin pie! It's not about the turkey, or the family, or football; it's all about the pie. Just saying!

I've spent one Thanksgiving alone....I was sick; I sent my kids & their dad off to a friend's place for Thanksgiving, and I made myself chicken noodle soup. Somehow, I think your Thanksgiving alone will pass better than mine did. I hope the games are good ones (video AND football).

Making myself a pie! Specifically trying to mimic the one I made over the summer that turned out fantastic:

On the Thanksgivings I spend alone, I usually like to work on my Christmas cards, so I can spend a little time with the people I care most about.

I am alone too. Well not exactly, after 2 hours of mingling with family, I snuck away downstairs and am by myself watching some football with a glass of wine. I assume this will be the best part of my day.

I've spent the last few alone. Moved out of state for work. All my friends are from here, so they spend time with their family. I don't mind it. Go get some Boston Market, have one or twelve gin and tonics with cranberry juice, just relax. Christmas alone is tough though. I've only not made the trek back to Iowa once for that, and it was rough.

I'm....babysitting tonight. The kid's parents own a restaurant. I feel bad for the kid, he usually has a sitter at least 5 nights a week during the busy times or when one parent is out of town.

Despite living 1,000 miles from home, I'm lucky enough to live in a community with a lot of young mid/late-20s transplants like myself and we typically do a "family" potluck Thanksgiving and Christmas. Most of my friends are going to that tonight, and I'll be joining them on Christmas. Makes the holidays a little bit easier.
