If the advisor is smart enough, then it can be structured that way but that will take a LOT of work.Being this is for “NIL”, couldn’t these collectives get creative to avoid California state taxes? Perhaps have him do appearances and events while on the road to low tax states? Because, as we all know, this money absolutely is not payment for playing football.
I bet Ohio State would take him in a secondSounds pretty entitled to me. Would a coach really want the headaches?
I see where Tennessee offered TCU’s starting QB $1 million more than he is making at TCU.
Yeah. I know. But is he worth it?I bet Ohio State would take him in a second

Oh yeah, that’s why I wrote it would take A LOT of work. And I don’t know whether it is makes sense for let’s say have appearance outside of CA as he plays for UCLA.I used to travel to CA for work every month, so I’ve had to file taxes there. I’m not an expert, but I can confidently say that there is no way in hell that the California FTB would let that happen.
Agree but still he just screwed himself out of a little over $1mill more that he would've gotten if he'd stayed at Tennessee with his original deal.I was hoping he was going to get no bids, oh well. 800,000 after tax is still good money. He didn't FAFO to hard.
And Tennessee will likely be WAY better than UCLA this year, right?Agree but still he just screwed himself out of a little over $1mill more that he would've gotten if he'd stayed at Tennessee with his original deal.

To be fair, there’s a big difference between negotiating during the designated transfer windows, and threatening to hold out in the playoffs/quitting on the team during practice. So the former Tenn QB is bad for wanting a raise...but Tenn is OK with offering the TCU QB a raise if he comes to Tenn? I get it...not defending the former Tenn QB...just a symbol of how messed up all of this is! I mean...last week Heupel was a god for standing up to Nico...universally praised...but now he needs a QB and he attempts to persuade another team's QB to leave his current program by offering him more money than he is already making? And what does this say about a QB that would leave his program that no one individual player is bigger than anyone else...blah blah blah...
I honestly have no idea how either team is shaping up this year. And Tennessee will likely be WAY better than UCLA this year, right?
The kid overplayed his hand and got burnt doing it, just like many other normal people would if you told your boss I want to redo my contract or else. You make that type of demand, you better have the money on the table from the 2nd school, he didn't, thinking that UT would back down, and the opposite happened. Not going to feel sorry for him, kid will make $1.5 million playing football this season, he put himself in this mess.So the former Tenn QB is bad for wanting a raise...but Tenn is OK with offering the TCU QB a raise if he comes to Tenn? Was the TCU QB holding out and actively on the hunt for more $$$? I don't think he was. That to me seems to be the difference here.So the former Tenn QB is bad for wanting a raise...but Tenn is OK with offering the TCU QB a raise if he comes to Tenn?
