I'm still hoping that their coach is on the way to UCLA with all the defections going on over there.

UCLA should call and will but I've seen that Jamie is good friends with Ben Howland and not a fan of how the school and AD treated him eventually firing him prior to Alford. Jamie also has a young talented team with good recruiting class incoming at his school seems like he's happy at TCU. UCLA is tempting and he's from So. Cal so anything is possible.

Was Fisher part of Dixon's first class? I know I could look it up, but I wonder if some of the transfers are Trent Johnson guys.
Would make the transfers make a little more sense.

No. Jaylen was there prior to Dixon. And he's one of those who seems like he's been there 6 years now.

3 knee surgeries I don’t care who you are that’s going to slow you down and it’s going to get you a rep for being injury prone.

Fran weighed in, seems Jaylen wanted to play the point and wasn't going to be put in that position add in the injury the transfer makes more sense.

@franfraschilla Smelled the Jaylen Fisher stuff coming. Between three knee surgeries & a desire to play point guard, he’s out. This sets a good @TCUBasketball team back a little bit. Ironically, he was so effective off playing with passing maestro, @arob25_ .
I guess you could say, Fran smelled something... fishy.

I think if you are Dixon, you look at the Big 12 and see Self at Kansas, Prohm at ISU, Kruger at OU, Beard at Tech, and maybe Weber at KSU. Then you look at the Pac 12 and the absolute dumpster fire that league is and the job that is open is the best one in the conference. So do you want to fight through 4-5 really good coaches at better basketball schools than TCU or go to UCLA in an awful Pac 12? Seems simple.

LOL, the little dig, I know it's getting harder each day, but the "maybe Weber." Kruger is 4-9 v. Weber.

Back on point, UCLA is a blueblood of the first order. Not simple to leave TCU, nope, but UCLA is a mega-job and they have the money to buy him. Wouldn't be surprised to see him leave if offered.

Not sure that the awful conference is a draw for him, but UCLA is absolutely the better job, no question at all.

Are we sure UCLA is still that great of a job? The Wooden glory days are nearly fifty years in the past. Their last national championship was over twenty years ago. How much do kids really care about program history or tradition? The team plays in a conference teetering on the brink of disaster. It's a better job than TCU, but I'm not sure it's one of the elite jobs in the country anymore.

Plus TCU charters flights and UCLA does not. Waiting in airports and flying coach on commercial flights - why would anyone want to do that 1 to 2 times a week for 2 - 3 months a year if they didn't have too. Maybe I am just old -

Haha not really a dig. Just when I think Weber is a great coach, he does something laughably dumb. Basically that. I do think he is a good coach though.

There are 16 active players in the NBA who went to UCLA. 8 players drafted since 2015. The bigger issue at UCLA is coaching. Another example, there are 7 top 100 kids according to 247 who are from California. Two 5 stars who somehow USC ended up with.

I believe part of the UCLA issue is reliance on west coast youngsters who bring a less than play hard mindset to their game. Give me a kid out of Detroit every time v. one out of LA with the same skill set.

I've seen references recently on our board and in sports coverage about UCLA and chartered flights. I don't know enough about the difference between chartered/non-chartered, how big of an advantage or disadvantage it is. If it's a notable detail, it seems like something a blue blood/Pac-8 would have. Anyone who is more enlightened can summarize it for me.

UCLA is scheduled to take a mix of commercial and charter flights the rest of the season. Bartow acknowledged the lack of dedicated charter flights could be something UCLA’s next coach will want to address.

“I don’t think it will make a difference in us winning or losing a game,” Bartow said. “Now, I think the next coach that comes in, that’s something that they really need to study hard. … I mean, in the perfect world, chartering is nice.”

Normally I’d agree but I think the fact that TCU is his Alma Mater gives it a small advantage. UCLA is one of the most overrated jobs in the country.
