Taco Time closing in Ames at the end of March

Taco Time in Ames has to be way down on my list of Mexican food there (in no real order)

Thought about it the other day. Guess I won't do than many more times.
Taco Bell is trash. Taco Time is way better than that.
"Due to the aging and conditions of the building." Don't forget the significant lack of customers! I've lived in the Ames area for over 15 years now and could probably count on one hand the number of times I've seen 5+ cars at that place.
Does that "parking lot" even hold 5 cars in addition to their delivery vehicles?
Taco Time brings me college nostalgia. I won't pinpoint how long ago that was, 
but I used to eat there occasionally on Sunday night when food service was closed. Beef burritos were my favorite.

I remember they had a pretty sweet deal on cinco de Mayo for cheap tacos. Only ate there once a year. Location hurt it IMO.
My first job when we moved to Ames was working as the bookkeeper for Mac & Janice, who owned that Taco Time and the one in Boone. 1983. Still love the crisp meat burritos.
I'm specifically comparing just the Ames locations. That Taco Time in Ames was straight awful
This was among my go to places for eating out in Ames. I enjoyed it although in last few years the price increases have limited my visits. Have to go a few times in next few weeks. Their mexi-fries are incredible.

For sure. I know the city wants to get that whole lincloln way\grand area redeveloped with more density over time.
I'm not sure if this project ended up getting approved, but this would be right next to the TT building between Clark and Kellogg. I know there has been this whole argument between business owners on Lincoln Way and the city in regards to completely redeveloping the Lincoln Way corridor. News has been pretty quiet on it lately.
Very fond memories of Taco Time. I grew up in Ames, and went to jr. high school at what is now city hall, and went there at least a couple times a week after school. I've always been amazed at their ability to compete as part of a much smaller franchise.
They've got a good product and a lot of Ames history. I will miss them.
