I think what we really need is a Cyclone Fan purge. We could form a "Commitee for Cyclone Loyalty" that would produce names of traitors to the Cyclone cause. These "traitors" could be dealt with by mobs of people, and we could get them to confess to crimes against Cyclonedom, like not showing up to a game the day before a final, not cheering loud enough, or taking a break from posting to get a snack, go to the bathroom, or having a quickie with the wife. Needless to say, we'll crack down on "posting to other threads during a game."

We could "purge" the elites and collectivize the proletariat. Then we could choose an individual we don't like, and blame all future Cyclone disappointments on them.

Or, we could just chill out and accept that sometimes you are disappointed.

But a purge sounds like fun, dontcha think?

Why pick one individual when there could be so many choices?

Again, look at what I said...I love ISU Athletics...my most important things in my life are as follows....
1. My family - My wife, my son and daughter, and then my mom and dad and then brother, step-sister, and their significant others and their children. These are why all my actions take place. Without them I am nothing.
2. My university - Iowa State University, and the town I grew up in Ames. This is what has made me who I am other than the influences of my family. From my fraternity to my work at the Iowa State Daily when I was in school, it taught me the value of education and the value of your fellow human being. I love you all that have experienced the same vision and goals of our shared experience.
3. My country - I love the fact I live in a country where I am allowed to the load mouth a-hole I am and people accept it. This is why we all enjoy the freedoms and fun we have today. God Bless the troops continuing to fight for our freedom today.

This was a trivial rant venting frustration about a lack of perceived caring of ISu athletics on a site called cyclonefanatic. I apologize again to those offended by my post.
Ahhh, an agnostic.:mask:

This pertains to me fella's so take it for what it's worth, but in my case it is good to check out the other threads during the game. My wife, kids and about every aquaintance that knows me at all knows how much emotion I put into my Cyclones. I shot basketball outside wearing only shorts and a "wife beater" shirt for close to an hour in single digit temps after our lost to Michigan State in the tournament. If I were to stay in the game thread alone I might start typing crap that is 100% emotion based and about 3% brain based and then I become a kicked out member. As it is I check other threads and watch the game and then get ticked off when people are ripping on Jiri or Rahshon or Haluska or Clark or Gmac or the refs or etc., etc., etc, and basically making no sense. Some others on the game threads might do some benefit to themselves and a BUNCH of benefit to the rest of the CF membership by staying out until your emotions are in check and you can type logical posts instead of the "He can't make a basket or pull down a rebound so why the hell is GMAC playing him" when he has had 20 pts and 8 rebounds(not a real example, just a scenario that has played out multiple times).

I know our season ended last night, and it sucked to me too. BUT exactly what have you seen in the last 10 games that made you think it would go either way. I was hoping we could pull it off but also know that with the injuries, player losses, NCAA screwovers, and sickness and lack of "horses" we would probably be done, it would have taken a KState vs ISU WBB game miracle and we already used that card in the tournament.

I have a good feeling about this coming year in football, MBB, WBB and Wrestling. Can't wait for it to start up again. Of course wrestling is still on but you know what I mean.

My biggest pet peeve here....stop posting to other threads during games. We should be supporting the team. If I can't make the game, I use this as my talk to the guy next to me watching the game site. Having to see other people posting to scrabble or what ever just kills me when we are playing. Wait until the game is over.

yeahhh......I'm gonna have to disagree here. I don't think it's your job to tell people how to spend their time on CF.

I watched both games tonight. I didn't post in any game threads. I never do. I'm content to sit, watch a game, and talk about it with the people I'm watching with or whatever. I love the Cyclones but I'm not going to sit here and analyze every footstep that a player takes on the court like some people seem to do (slight hyperbole). I watch, I cheer, I hope we win. At the last buzzer, win or lose, I get over it and move on with life.

I gotta agree with this. I love my Cyclones, however they DO NOT dictate my life. Did I watch both games to the best of my abilities? Yes. Did I have other things that I needed to take care of? Yes. Can I browse the internet forum and pay attention to the game at the same time? Yep. The game has sound. The internet doesn't. Did I successfully pull of all of the above? I think so. I sat here, browsed the web and watched both games. I also had to leave during the middle of the womens game to take care of my sisters dog. Sister went into labor yesterday and I said I'd take care of the dog. Some people on this board would probably have punted the dog for wanting to be fed at it's normal time b/c it interrupted the game. Went to her house, turned the women's game on over there and played with the dog. Oh, and I even did the unfathomable. I left the house to let her dog out again with like 2 or 3 minutes left in the Men's game. The outcome was pretty much inevitable and if I was wrong, well I had the DVR set.

Oh and people who are so obsessed with sports that when their team loses they have are in a pissy mood for the rest of the day, really need to be slapped IMO. Yeah it sucks, you can gripe about it for the first 30 minutes. That's it. Get a grip on reality. My roommate was like that with the Vikings. They'd lose and he'd be pissy for the rest of the afternoon and evening. Wouldn't want to go out to dinner, etc. If it's a close or tough loss, I might give you a pass for 2 hours. It's sad IMO how many people heavily invest themselves into sports and the actions of a bunch of 20 yr old kids. Get over yourself and do something productive rather than complain on a message board about people posting on a message board.

Not trying to ruffle feathers but I found it very amusing that the family members are ranked. I guess it would be handy in a fire to know who to save first.

Why is this thread still going? It was an emotional outlet 26 seconds after a frustrating season ended. Please let this thread fade away.

This is one of those threads I wish I could've gotten in on the ground floor, I need to check this forum more often.

Edit: Went back and read the whole thread.......HAHAHAHA. Was this a serious post? Where's Allen Funt, this has to be candid camera, right? When I read the multiple threads about people not being true fans because they leave early at football games I thought I may have seen the bottom of the barrel....sadly I was wrong. Maybe this is why I don't come into this forum.

I don't know if you have heard of it but its called technology. You can have a laptop, bring it next to the TV and watch the game while posting. Its not that hard to do two things at once.

I have the media center on my computer and have the game in one window and the board in another. I can't dialog very well because my view of the game is delayed from what the rest of you have. Consequently I read threads.

I do yell on occasion. Is that sufficient loyalty?

Only if said yelling is loud enough to annoy a neighbors' dogs or small children.

Well I hope for your sake you make it a point to follow EVERY ISU sporting event. That means finding text updates of the soccer, hockey, wrestling, gymnastics, swimming/diving, volleyball, softball, etc. matches instead of posting or doing anything else. Unless you do that, I suggest you get off your horse. Or get a life and quit complaining. Your choice. (see what I did there? Gave you a choice, not an ultimatum).

Can we post during American Idol? What about dancing with the stars? We need more clarity on this issue.

By the way, who is going to be the starting five next year for MBB?

What a silly question, we gotta figure out if the student tickets are included in the season ticket counter on cyclones.com first.
