But I mean he was a HUGE part of their team...he was the reason I was watching all of their games. Kind of like Garza right now with Iowa.

Garza got better under Fran, but I'd like my evaluation of Fran to include mostly years without Garza.

Do you judge Hoiberg to not include Niang, Monte, etc? Subtract those guys and the records they had and Hoiberg wasn’t very good. And Prohm totally sucks.

Bo Ryan Blocked the ACC, Big Ten, Iowa State, etc. Bo Ryan was jerking Uthoff around. Iowa State was blocked because Bo Ryan is a complete jerk.

ISU was blocked because TJ got caught trying to poach Uthoff before he ever declared that he was transferring. Bo Ryan keeping that detail to himself while he was getting blasted by the media makes him a pretty solid guy in my book.

Got a link on that? I don't recall hearing about that and would like to read up on it.

For the TJ people...

Go to around 11:30 in this podcast and listen until around 13:30 or so. See what this guy thinks of TJ. Hint, it's not good. One of the worst coaches in the Mountain West. He can't believe ISU would want him and UNLV should pack him into a FedEx plane and send him to Ames.

I feel that if we hire TJ it's Prohm 2.0.

If we had a team where it was just one guy at an All Big 12 or All American level. I'd probably give a little more weight to evaluating the coach in the years the team wasn't feeding that one stud player. All of our recent good teams had a duo, a trio or even a group of four players that were all near all Big 12 level.

I'm not saying TJ had nothing to do with Daum's success, but it makes it harder for me to judge how he was as a coach those years when the team was so much about Daum. I don't judge Mad Fran by the past two seasons when Garza is such a crazy focal point of their offense. I give him some credit for finding and developing Garza but I also look at how his teams do when he doesn't have the star AA player that everything goes through.

It's so sad watching other team's out of timeout plays and see how crisp they are.. It's insane how that was something that Prohm struggled to ever be good at here. For all of the plays he liked on Twitter, I barely ever remember us running an ATO play and being like "well that was a good play".

Half the time we'd just run a high ball screen and our guys would stand around the perimeter. The other half of the time, Prohm would be on the court screaming because his guys were in the wrong spot..

Sorry for the mini-rant. I'm watching KSU and Baylor and am just sad with how well coached they are. Even Kansas State. If we had a good coach, we'd have a record like Kansas State does. Which isn't good, but their talent level is similar to ours. We just have (had) an incompetent coach.

But with pre-existing buddies here in Iowa to make it even worse if he struggles like Prohm has.

You have the Pollard angle that’s been talked about, but CW has admitted he wouldn’t be able to cover TJ objectively. Hope that wouldn’t bring down the quality of the content on here.

I like TJ, but it’s an athletic program, not a frat.

I focused on Jackson a lot last night. It's pretty common at every level now to set the high ball screen with the rest of the team stationary around the three point line. But Jackson (and too often all of them were guilty of this) would be completely disengaged from the action. He was essentially resting and not a threat to do anything. Everyone on the floor should be reacting to the ball screen action whether it's getting ready to shoot, rotating to a vacant spot on the 3-point line, or going back door. We had no secondary actions off the ball screen, which is kinda important when your big can't pick and pop and your point guard can't turn the corner. Our basketball IQ was just astonishingly low for a D1 team, let alone a Big 12 team.
