Isaiah Cannon got coached up. Cameron Payne got coached up. Monte Morris got coached up. Tyrease Halliburton coached up.

THT got drafted. If Prohm were so bad at coaching people up, why on earth would Monte have stuck around for his last year? Does Prohm get any credit for turning Thomas into an NBA player (people freaking hated him before Prohm came along, bashing him, calling him a recruiting miss. Were people projecting Naz Long to be an NBA guy when Prohm got the job?

Because his feedback wasn't good enough to go.

What did Prohm do specifically to make these players into NBA players? Do the NBA coaches get any credit for literally coaching them to play in the NBA?

We actually brought TJ back to help Prohm that first year. It was thought to be necessary for sustained success. And it was to help with Coaching. Good thing we did.

Not at all. TJ came back as an assistant to Fred because (I believe) he knew fred was bolting and I thought the job was his.

To both TJs and prohms credit he stayed.

You sure seem to make a lot of excuses for why Prohm doesn't deserve credit for things that went well at Murray State and give TJ credit for everything that went well as an assistant at Iowa STate.

Who has had more success recruiting players who have gone on to success in the NBA? List names.

Also, I'm not saying Prohm should be Iowa State's coach. He can't cut it. TJ would be worthy of a shot at it. I'm just pointing out how stupid some people are.
Are we hiring someone to put people in the NBA?

Prohm had an decent resume back then. He was my second choice back then due to not upsetting the team that we already had. That said Prohms resume back then isn’t comparable to TJs current resume.

We can look back retrospectively and point out the flaws Prohm had that we overlooked so we can not make the same mistake. Some of those include a lack of connection to the Midwest. TJ has that covered. Prohm had no P6 experience. TJ has a lot of P5 experience including at Iowa State. Prohm was carried by two NBA PGs. For as much as people want to point out Daum and for as good as he was he still isn’t an NBA player. Also one condition I’ve said I have for TJ would be someone like Bobby Lutz or Doc Sadler.

I'm sure you have read all my posts and didn't get this, but all I was replying to was the crazy notion that 2021 TJ Otzelberger is a far better candidate for Iowa State than 2015 Steve Prohm was.

Mountain West Conference is vastly superior to the Ohio Valley Conference. Prohm wasn’t a terrible candidate. Prohm had a decent record. At a team known to be the Conference Powerhouse. Sometimes the Program can hide the deficiencies. Once the Players who played in Fred’s system left we were playing in disorganized chaos. It is like Prohm just rolls the balls out and the Players play pickup street ball. There is no scheme or game plan. Just disorganized chaos.

I dont disagree with the fact that it is just not working today.

Prohm wasn’t a terrible candidate, but he was a reach.
Prohm was passed on by Bama in 2015. He wasn’t high sought after. He had no high major experience. Like you said, inheriting a good program in which deficiencies would be hidden if not looking at the right things. Like looking at non-basketball fit instead

He was not a disaster hire for June. He got out of the way and let the Hoiball era finish. Impressive continuity for an outsider. He was a bad extension and buyout decision in 2019.

Right can't jamie just use a private plane to fly to Indianapolis whenever he wants
Seems like professionally maybe it's best for Jamie to simply do his job with the selection committee first then come back and do his Iowa State job. If he fires Prohm today he'll be distracted from his selection committee work.

FRANK ******* MARTIN...drops mic....(so I can get as far away from that statement as possible.)
UPDATE: His name was brought up on an Eastern Iowa Sports talk show in an interview with Kevin Lehman...I spit out the water I was drinking when he said it. (He was purely speculating...he had no inside knowledge.)
