I am as ****** as the next guy about Saturday but to call for the coaches head is ridiculous especially one under contract for as long as he is. Guess what we have had over 50,000 in JTS 20 times in a row, that's unprecedented he isn't going anywhere.

1. Mark Mangino will be fine, people ******** about his offense after the first week are stupid.
a. Likely hasn't installed it all yet
b. Threw screen passes because after QB went out maybe they were triple teaming Bibbs (Sam proved this fact), throwing underneath possibly could have made them play honest. Plus they were pinning their ears back rushing the QB, a screen pass can neutralize that by sucking them in and going over the top of them. That's smart playcalling, did it work, no, but it wasn't like we threw 15 wide receiver screens to the flat.
c. when Farniok went down there was a noticeable change.
d. When Bundrage went down, there went our big time deep threat, allowing them to key on Bibbs downfield.
e. The Ints were bad luck for us and good luck for them.
f. Having both Farniok and QB go out as early as they did spelled disaster. I guarantee you they got most of the reps during game week with the new offense being installed. I believe it would have been a dog fight with those two not so much of a laugher.
2. The defense needs help, we all knew this going in. What I do see is a lot of young guys playing, Alton Meeks will have a good career here. The ejection of Cotton Moya was BS, if that's how they are going to call targeting this year, I may say **** college football.

3. Those of you calling CW out for making fun of the NDSU fan need to leave this FREE site immediately of CW needs to start charging for the use of the immense amount of content that this website provides. It would definitely reduce the number of DA's around here. Every one of us would have laughed at that guy calling the score, we all knew it would be a tough game but all of us didn't think we would get beaten down.

What? I can't hear you. I'm already jumping :jimlad:

I agree with the last part the most. Calling out posters or people like CW or BB isn't cool. The 2 of them deserve more respect then that for all they have done for this site.

Clonevet,

I agree with most of what you’ve written, especially #2. Here is what I don’t agree with:

1B. It appeared to me the NDST’s defense was mainly in a cover 2 on most first & second downs. On third down, they did blitz in some form, by either bringing additional rushers or by zone blitzing. Either way, ISU should have been able to run on first or second downs because the safties were not in the box.

1E. The first interception was caused by a tipped ball. The passing lane wasn’t open. Either SR thought, he could drop it over the linebacker and didn’t or he simply didn’t see him. The second interception was caused by an overthrown ball.

For me, Coach Rhoads has spent almost all of the capital he earned from the Ok. State, Texas and Nebraska upsets. If you asked me today if Coach Rhoads should stay or go, I would lean slightly towards staying. I need to see something this year though. Coach Rhoads needs to find his magic and pull off another big upset and be competitive in the losses. If not, I will more than likely start to think he should go.

Everyone should take notice of our post, you disagreed RESPECTFULLY, not that hard I bet. As far as should have been able to run against that, I agree but the key word is SHOULD have, not sure we COULD have. Right now I think we have a talent issue up front and an NDSU powerhouse wasn't what this team needed yesterday

I agree CPR has zero capital left, but all the good luck we had has been repaid in bad luck these last 2 years. It should start to balance out anytime.

completely disagree. This team appeared to just quit. That is not a good sign. Game 1 and this team just folded. How about the staff call a timeout when it is tied 14-14 just to huddle up the team and give a pep talk? No, that would be stupid. No emotion from this team and its game 1. Not good. There are underlying issues going on that we are not privey to. We have players on twitter saying "want to go home". After 1 game? Sugar coat it all you want but I'm really concerned. We didn't just get beat we got beat up at home to an FCS school.

The targeting call was freaking unbelievable. The defender just stood there three yards away as the receiver went charging at him after he lost his balance and dove forward towards our guy. Our guy slightly dipped his helmet and a soft collision occurred. It is one thing for the ref to make the call. It was a crap thing for the review booth to say it was targeting. That means our poor defense will have even more problems guarding people.

I still feel like ISU has been severely hosed on two different replays. Texas and this last one. How can you look at that video and still think that it was targeting? Even the announcers were like WTF!

Sorry, I didn't read any more after this. I was laughing too hard. If there is one thing as consistent as ISU losing. It's people telling me that we didn't see the full offense on the first day.

This team was so bad, there isn't anything they are holding back or that they haven't installed yet that is going to be the miracle cure we needed. The only cure for our woes, is to run into a team slower than us, weaker than us and less talented than us. That's going to be a tough thing to find this year.

This sucks. Appreciate the intent of the message and I have been a person taking that position before. Here is the problem - I can already write the ****** for the Labor Day Post next year.

Hang in there guys - it is not as bad as it seems. This is a young team and if it were not for some key injuries and and getting screwed on a couple of calls, we could have been in that game. You have to have confident in the coaches - just watch this team grow during the year.

I am in no mood for Ground Hog Day.

I predicted this on Saturday. Funny how all the new coaches at NDSU had no problem.

The team sucks. Sad but true. I will watch all the games but this team is not improved on either side of the ball

No team in the country uses their full offense in the first week.

NDSU didn't use their full offense either, but theirs is much simpler than Mangino's, and they execute the hell out of it.

Pretty much agree. I would expect to see this if Florida State lost to North Dakota State. Not a team that went 3-9. If we still have people horribly angry 2 days later i dont know what to say.

Its not just that we lost. I think people could have handled a competitive loss a lot better, especially given that KSU lost to them last year. Its how we lost to NDSU. After the first couple series we just got completely dominated by them. That should never happen against an FCS team, even a good one. And we didnt just look bad on one side, both our offense and defense sucked saturday. 14 points wont win you many games period, much less in the big 12.
