Well that confirms what some posters have been saying about TB getting moved to safety.. not surprised. I always felt he would be a better fit at safety compared to corner.

I think TB may spend time at both safety and corner this season--and if he and Jansen Watson are spending time at safety, it seems to me that there is room for a freshman corner to get his feet wet this Fall.

I think TB won't leave the field. When we have 3 LB's he'll man the SS spot and in Nickel situations he'll play NB and Brooks/Morgan will play at SS. Unless Morgan develops into that starting NB spot that Rhoads alluded to in the LB preview.

A lot of praise for Jansen Watson in this piece, which is good. We will need someone to step up next year, if not this year. Would like to see both Broomfield and Washington get in their share of time at the safety spot. I love the depth here right now. We look to be set up pretty well in the future.

I do not read too much into the NFL player comment. I remember Rhoads said that Kennard Banks had NFL talent, but when he was on the field he was usually so far out of position you wouldn't see him til he ran back on camera as his man crossed the goal line.

Todd McShay also thought Kennard Banks had NFL talent.

He had NFL talent in racking up personal foul helmet to helmet hits.

This is likely going to be correct. Early in the season you will see TB in the nickel position a lot on passing downs but a move to full time SS will happen once one of the youngsters steps up to take the position.

Todd McShay also thought Kennard Banks had NFL talent.

Todd McShay also isn't a coach. Our defensive coordinator is also fairly confident you will see LJ and TB on NFL teams in 2012.

Wasn't saying they won't, I agree with CPR. I was making a point that McShay thought the same thing about Banks. A person who's job is to look at who has NFL talent thought the same as CPR.

I was responding to this quote from Brett108:

No surprises in that piece. I had Benton and Broomfield at safety. IMO- Benton is an obvious fit at SS. Especially when Reeves performed as well as he did last year. Brromfield had a pretty damn good year on special teams. Making tackles on special teams requires, speed and being in the right place at the right time...very similar to FS. Plus Rhoads has a history of taking potential starters from special team standouts. If not Broomfield, Washington has some experience. In the end, I would say Broomfield and benton

Kennard Banks did have NFL talent, however he lacked intangibles like keeping your head screwed on.

I'd like to see Benton and Givens starting at Safety. We are in pretty good shape at CB even with Benton moving, especially with Lynn and Richardson coming in.

He was also awesome at celebrating a tackle after giving up a 15 yard pass.

He did excel at that.

I agree and I think that will happen as a long as LJ and Reeves are healthy and someone can take the nickel spot or we run 3 linebackers. A lot of ifs there but I see them happening at least some of the time.

I'd like to see the people that Bobby, Wally and CPR decide are the best starting at safety.

Smart aleck, aren't ?
