While extremely difficult to find in its own right, would've been even trickier if
the photographer hadn't centered the subject in the middle of the frame.

But still an effective demonstration of crazy-good (and deadly) camouflage.

Wow, if that had been a snake it would have bit me.

Lived in OK for a few years. Would usually smell a copperhead before I saw it.

This is why I wear good leather boots when hiking in places with poisonous snakes.

This is also why I prefer not to go to places with poisonous snakes.

It's not just hiking where you have to be careful. I was riding bike on the Root River trail in SE MN, and zoomed past what looked like a stick in the trail.

But the stick snapped up at me and tried to bite me.

I've never seen a rattler while hiking around here, but I subscribe to the good boot theory as well.
