So, at 6 wins, does Iowa go to a bowl game?

Is Indiana bowl elgible?

They might not be a bad pick for the game in Michigan due to how close it is.

I'm sure they will. If they went at 6-6 (2-6), they definitely will go at 6-6 (4-4).

Not with the rule change this year. A 6-6 team can't be picked before any other 7-5 team that can been picked. They are done for the season........HA

The drip PUkeye announcers are even saying this is definitely the last game and if there is any dipstick fanbase that is to optimistic it is them. When they know its over, it is over.

Is that a national rule? I thought it was only in the Big 10. If national, they are not going.

Somehow, someway, I think they will...

Nope, Indiana just won, and that will knock Iowa out of the picture since a 6-6 team can not pass a 7-5 team.

Let the melt down in Iowa City begin !

Bowls with conference tie-ins have to take all 7-5 teams first. Only if open tie-ins are left after that will a 6-6 team get the nod. Nationally, 7-5 (or better) teams will get at-large bids before 6-6 teams.

Wins by MSU and Indiana today were huge. Now, there are EIGHT teams in that league at 7-5 or better, which should fill all of their bowl tie-ins since there will only be 1 team in the BCS.

It's a national rule.

The odds of Iowa going to a bowl are REALLY slim, though it could happen. They are guaranteed NOT to go to a Big 10 bowl game. In fact, one 7 win team will not go to a big 10 bowl game, as there are 8 Big 10 teams with 7+ wins now. That's right, Iowa, it's you, Northwestern and Minnesota in the basement of the Big 10.

Any way, Iowa would have to find an at-large bowl berth. The at-large bowls could only offer a 6 win team if there are no remaining 7 win 1A schools left. They MIGHT end up at something like a Boise bowl, but the odds aren't good.

Iowa has to pray for some at-large's to open up.

At this moment, there are 46 teams with 7+ wins. 13 others have 6 wins with at least a game left to play. There are also a handful of teams that can get to 6-6 (and fill a conference tie-in spot) with a win next week.

Who freaking cares.

It is a team that we play every year. I know we like to say we don't, but we recruit against them. That's one less feather in their cap if they can't say they made it to a bowl game.

It's crazy how everything just about broke wrong for them today. Of course, none of it would have matter if they had won, but had NWestern beaten Illinois, Iowa would have been the de facto #10 pick out of the conference.

Bad year for parity in the conference.

That's how I feel, too. Plus, I don't have to listen to how the bowl game is going to give them valuable extra practice time, positioning them for another national title run the following year.

I'd like to say if we had winning records every year I wouldn't care anymore about Iowa...but I'd be lying. I still would want them at 0-12 every year for eternity.

Amen and those are my thoughts exactly. A beaten hawk is a quiet hawk and that is about is important as anything.

Pluse I have a reason to listen to Jon Millers show on Monday. It's a Hawkeye meltdown.....:twitcy::biglaugh::twitcy::biglaugh:

It is good indeed to have their fans quiet for once.

I heard that after the game, Jake Christensen disgustedly tried to throw his jersey in the laundry, but totally overthrew the hamper.
