i've been out of school for 5 years and i still rush the field. why not. if you don't like it, i don't care. don't do it. i thought it was a big win. first conference win for the new staff, we are playing better and can turn this into momentum. the players like knowing that we still support them enough to go down there and congratulate them. the coaching staff won't ever get another FIRST conference victory let's enjoy it.

I find it hard to beleive the K-State game is bigger than the Iowa game. Maybe in a year when we are competing for a North title and a shot at the Big 12. Hopefully the day will come soon, but as for now K-State is not a big game.

This mind-set has to change and change now!!!! K-State is a helluva lot more important than beating those silly Squawks!!! I had the exact same emotion at the end of the game as I did vs. Iowa. A win against Baylor should mean more than beating Iowa any year.

I, personally, was pleased to see our fans get on the field to express some gratitude to our players and coaches. Had I been in a position where I could have gotten on the field, I would have immediately and proceeded to jog to the nearest ISU coach or player and congratulate them for a good win and thank them for a game well played - it has been a while since I've been able to see both in a game in JTS. While our fans did get on the field, it did not seem to be the chaotic rushing we see after the Iowa game. Most fans, even students, never really get to personally congratulate or thank players and coaches for good games. Clapping and cheering is great, but I believe that sometimes fans would like a more personal showing of how they feel. Whether you think it or not, this win was great for everyone in Cyclone Nation. Our fans know that and simply took the best opportunity to thank the people responsible.

Rushing the field debate aside --

If some of you think beating K-State wasn't a big win, you don't watch Big 12 football. Any conference win is huge ESPECIALLY when you have only won one other in the last two years.

I am glad that you guys found something to b!tch about after a solid game yesterday. I wouldn't want you weekend to go without whining about SOMETHING...it is good that you now can feel complete.

I think the tailgate thread needs to pass on it's title to this thread...

Amen to that Flag Guy. Seriously, if you don't want to rush the field, don't. But don't say stupid things like "embarrassing the rest of us." If you are embarrassed by others having fun and enjoying a well played football game then you have other issues.

Agreed.

I felt rushing the field was perfectly accpetable.

1.) Its an upset. Not a huge one, but an upset in an otherwise bleak season none-the-less.

2.) How long has it been since we've had a win by more than one score? I think we should celebrate it.

3.) Its Chizik's first ever conference win as our coach.

In a few years, when we are doing much better than this, then I'll agree that we shouldn't rush the field for beating K-State. But right now, I see no reason not to.

heh heh I"ll say what I said in the stands towards the end of the game -

If we keep this up Chizik would probally go up to each fan on the field after a stunt like this and kick each one in the balls and be like, "Act like you've been here before" (aka act like you're used to winning)

This game... whatever. I thought this one was a little frivilous but rushing is fun

Side note... while on the field saw Chizik and his wife getting a quick celebration kiss in before being completely mobbed by the media then escorted out by the police like he was president being taken away from the scene of a shooting...

Yeah I couldn't care less. Its a win. Be happy, move on. If it was a riot on Lincoln way with cars overturned then maybe worth a gripe.

We pretty miuch sucked at flipping cars during the last riot, but they got **** good at tearing down street lights and setting dumpsters on fire to roll down Lincoln way

im on the fence about the whole thing. considering the season ISU has had, eh..go whoop it up. but its KSU and they arent a powerhouse.

i do remember a college game incident that had a fan who rushed the field get clocked by a player from the losing team. no charges were pressed because it had to do something with the fans not being allowed on the field in the 1st place. so i guess there is the element of danger present.

My only question at the end of the game is this:

Do the refs have to give the check back to K-State because they lost anyway?

I thought it was pretty dumb rushing the field but oh well. No one from our section or surrounding sections did it. My thought is let's not go back to the 90s where we rush the field after every single win.

It was Gene's first Big XII victory and there was no better way celebrating for him, the rest of the coaching staff, the players, and the fans to be ONE and celebrate as ONE Cyclone community. I know there are plenty of nay-sayers in this thread who say taking the field was dumb, but its time to get serious and enjoy a win that Chizik will remember for the rest of his life. Beating Iowa shouldn't be the only "field rushing" game. If I had a choice to do it again, I would. Bash me if you would like, but I celebrated with Gene, the coaches, the players, and the fans. Now that's out of the way, Go Cyclones! Let's beat Colorado!

I cringed as I saw the first few students start trickling out onto the field and then cringed some more as about 200 others followed. It was good to see the majority of students exiting without rushing, good job. There's always going to be the few idiots who just care about being on t.v. with their signs/chest paint and there's no way to stop them from feeling even more special by being on the field after a win like this. Can't complain too much during a season like this one!
