Depends on where you were. The front row was a shove-fest (where SuperFan, FlagGuy, and I were), but going back into the stands, it was a choice instead of a force.

Also, when the field is gonig to be rushed, it's pretty apparent a minute or so before the game clock runs out. So, if you REALLY don't want to rush, just go move up a couple rows and nobody will 'force' you to do anything.

I was in the student section and there was not hundreds to thousands of people shoving anyone onto the field. It was actually pretty tame from what I saw. Those who wanted to rush the field went and those who didn't stayed back.

It was pretty tame, but I've been there when it hasn't been tame and as a rule I don't fight it, because I know how bad it can get.

Looked fine in row 10...

And I did rush the field. I stayed back at first but decided to go for Chizik's first Big 12 win. I don't really know why this whole thing is even a debate. We're 2-8.

I personally don't think we should have rushed the field, but WHO CARES. Why not get excited over a win for a struggling program?

Is there even an aisle to walk back to at that point if you're in the front? NO.

Yes, and those games that aren't tame are usually games that truly merit rushing the field, so there would be no need to fight it. Tame games like today, if you don't want to rush, you don't have to.

Question: How easy is it to tell if everyone behind you is going to rush versus just a few hundred? I find it difficult to find a difference, any other front-row citizens care to help?

Thanks for reminding us, I think some people forgot you sat in the front row.

I think it was ok for the students to rush the field. But I wouldn't really call it a "rush"...it was more calm. It was just kind of like we had a postgame celebration on the field. After losing 6 games in a row, I think it was ok for this to happen because the fanbase has been waiting to celebrate for a while. Now, WHEN we beat Colorado next week it wouldn't really be appropriate, and I think the students will react that way.

Ladies.... we just won our first Big XII game in almost a year, and we end up b***hing at each other about who rushed the field, why they did, and should they have?

Let's take the "next step" and end this thread.

Sounds to me there are two issue...or at least the motivation of the original post not clearly explained.
Is the main issue the safety of students? If so, it shouldn't make a difference when/who we beat? If the issue is the appearance of being too excited to finally win a game, rushing the field is an individual choice.
Personally I say, great win. Let the fans celebrate. Shoot, I remember when I was a student at ISU and we were getting beat by Brian Bosworth's Sooners (mid-80's) about 50-0 and we scored a field goal at the end of the game...students rushed the field...

As a 35 year old man I wish I could've rushed the field, hell I felt like leaping off the balcony onto the field. We kicked K-States a$$ and some people here want to make the students feel stupid for celebrating a huge win?????? The students have simply been awesome this year and we feel the right to bash them for rushing the field, I don't get some of you!!!! :nah:

Why not rush the field? It's been a tough season and this was a big win for the players. If I were playing, I'd love the site of my fellow students coming on the field to congratulate me. It would be interesting to hear from some of the players about that.

I didn't think there needed to be a field rushing. But there was...so it is what it is.

All over now...

Well said...... our fanbase spends WAAAAAYYYYYYY too much time worrying about how things look (rushing the field, uniforms, songs, etc...). If the students want to rush the field, I couldn't care less. They have supported a poor team very well and deserved it..... as did the senior players.

Before the game ended I was hoping we wouldn't be like Iowa who seems to rush the feild after every win. Oh well, Chizik's first Big 12 win, I can understand why.

I agree cycloneryan. Seems like a lot of people made fun of Iowa rushing the field last week after a double OT victory and coming back from like 17 points down. I wonder if those same posters are okay with us doing it yesterday?
