It seems that Royce is making too much of his condition. It is one thing to try (and experience the difficulties of his condition) and another to refuse to try because "protocols" aren't in place, particularly when "protocols" seem like letting him do what he wants.
Or maybe I just don't get it and that is what he is advocating for. If so, I still think he could have much more impact if he presented himself like he was trying and had some success in the NBA, then forced the advocacy issue.
It would be interesting to see a few samples of what "protocols" might look like. All I can imagine is Royce being able to do what he wants. But would those "protocols" include any protection for the team when he is "disabled" and not able to play on short notice?
It would also be interesting to hear from some medical professionals in this field who understand the issue about "protocols," but don't like the way Royce is going about this. It seems that Royce's doctors may be more interested in advocacy for the cause as they are for Royce's health.
