“Family Feud†became one of the most iconic game shows in TV history and Dawson himself became a household name, and earned the nickname “The Kissing Bandit†for his habit of kissing all the female contestants.
He ended up marrying one of those female contestants, Gretchen Johnson, who he met when she competed on the show in 1981. Together they had a daughter named Shannon Nicole Dawson. When he hosted the second run of “Family Feud†Dawson made a promise to Johnson not kiss anyone.
“I kissed them for luck and love, that’s all,†Dawson told The Associated Press at the time.

And Running Man. Great movie. One of only two movies with actors that would later become state governors. (Predator is the other one)
He was also great on the Match Game. For a time in the final round for the big money ($10,000 Man, how times have changed) the producers told the contestants they could pick any one but Richard Dawson because he was so automatic, the players always won. Especially fun were to go back now on YouTube and watch the shows that were "taped after the dinner break" (where everyone **ahem** may have had one cocktail to many)
