Rhoads seems to barely be able to credit Lanning...

What CPR said would be like Matt Thomas coming off the bench and hit 6 threes and played great and Fred when asked about Matts performance says "Well Matt isn't dribbling the ball, he's not passing it to himself, and he's not the one grabbing rebounds but he played pretty well." Everyone would be like Wtf was that? Instead Fred would have said "yea Matt played great, he was really confident in his shot and that showed with 6 threes, his shooting really got us back in the game and energized the team etc... See the difference?

Anyone think Sam is CPR's guy and Lanning is now CM's guy? One has to wonder about the relationship between those two and CPR wants the final say whether he's right or wrong. Just a thought.

Does anyone else sense some tension between CPR and Mangina?

Lol! The D was ok, but they still gave up 45 points in crappy conditions. They need to play better than that if they are going to start **** talking the offense in the media. They've still got plenty to worry about on their side of the ball.

The defense was not great, but the offense sure didn't help with the 3 and outs and TOs. ISU went fumble, 3 and out, 3 and out, 3 and out and INT to start the game. Not real inspiring numbers.

Lanning is not going to be Mangino's guy. He does not fit what he wants to run. Neither does Sam, but he is closer. I wouldn't be surprised to see Lanning start, but it won't be because we are finally using Mangino's guy.

From the Ames Tribune:

'Rhoads credited some of the Cyclones' offensive success to Lanning, but not all of it'...

CPR:
"You can credit a player, but he wasn't blocking for the guy who was carrying the ball and he wasn't running the football and he wasn't catching the football that he was throwing - "but he performed very well."

I also noticed after the Bundrage TD - Rhoads was over giving Bundrage hugs/props and basically ignored Lanning. (at least I didn't see anything)

Must be a burr under CPR's saddle to see Lanning lead the team and get in the end zone.

Paul's past and present stubbornness will be the undoing of him

Scary?? What is scary about it? SR has clearly not performed well or consistently over the last few years. 7 wins in the last 2.5 years - don't give me the stats garbage either - we need SCORING. We need a QB that knows how to get in the endzone. What could possibly be scary about giving Lanning an honest chance after the TD pass in the TCU game unless you mean scary for the staff that is going to look foolish for not trying anything to spark the offense! I mean come on - 7 wins in 2.5 years with SR at QB. What the hell do you have to lose?
It's all Based on your perspective and your livelihood.

Mark may be gone before he sees his guy.

Hard to face up that you've been starting the wrong QB all season and you may lose a 2 million dollar a year job because you were to stubborn to go with your best chance to win.

Lots of decisions are based on what people see everyday. Perhaps what we saw hasn't surfaced until now. Or perhaps it was always there but didn't become apparent until in real life situations. Or perhaps it was culmination of coincidences. Let's make judgment after the Texas game. I feel we'll know more of the story after that game.

Seems to me like there are issues with Joel off the field...maybe not as hard of a worker, attitude, something. There has to be off-field reasons or they wouldn't be as pro-SR as they are. Look, I wish Sam could have been what we needed, but as I've said before - Sam is probably good enough to be an average starter, but we need better than that at ISU to make up for other deficiencies. Lanning looks to have a higher ceiling by a long shot.

If Sam was an average starter then there wouldn't be a JL controversy.

So what would everyone's reaction be on here if CPR starts SR on Saturday? Just curious...

You will hear some pretty loud boos and I not for that but u will hear it and loud. One other thing...notice CPR in response to that question and saying al the things Lanning isn't doing said he's not the one running the ball etc.. Well Joel was running the ball and well...which makes me think even more CPR is truly ****** about what is going on.

I heard that to. I think it was Tribune.

Didn't hear it, but if this was Tribune, he might want to focus on the 14 points that he left on the field, not including the points Baylor got after his missed picks.

Regardless, I like having a defense with a nasty attitude.

As much as I don't want to admit it, this is the way I read that quote.

I think DeLira is Mangino's guy.
