Pack them in tightly, standing up. I bet you could do it. Plus they can stand on the upper walkways. Those people didn't buy seats. So they will be packed in like sardines. Sound like we were getting over 11,000 plus between the 4 hillside areas before.

Selling out 61k is going to be a stretch, but you never know, I'm impressed sometimes at the level of commitment we show even when we suck. Which is pretty much always...

Now that there is supposed to be beer sales... I think we can get to 61k.

If the taps have Busch Light as an option we'll be turning people away at the gates!

Of course we'll need to expand those private restrooms and hire a small security brigade to offset the dark side of drinking Busch Light

Kinda glad Gene failed in this endeavor. I think we're all going to be happier with the new SEZ being football dedicated. The BBall teams being happy in their own facility out west and volleyball having moved full time into Hilton.

But wow - 14Mil for all that?

Watch the highlights at the end. IMO the Golden Age of ISU sports for a season. Check the 10:21 mark where you can see the old tents in the SEZ, before the bleachers were even there. I believe with hottubs."

Thanks for posting this, my parents had one of these videos and tossed it a few years ago after their VCR quit. Dad and I were talking after the new plans came out how it would be fun to go back and watch it.

Seating capacity-

Sidelines: 42,500 + SEZ lower bowl & club seating: 7,500 + SEZ upper bowl: 5,800 = 55,800 Total

You need 5,200 crammed into the NEZ hillsides & Jacobson to reach 61,000. Keep in mind about 300 of that will be the ISUCF"V"MB. We'll easily reach that for our games against UNI & EIU at the beginning of the 2015 season.

So the official Physical seating capacity will be 56K if you include the band seating?

Cram and litterly cram 4K people on each north hill and you have 60K

I think we have kind of screw ourselves into adding onto the NEZ because of the scoreboard, jake and tunnel

I think the best thing they could do for now is sexy up the north. Dress up the supports for the scoreboard to get away from the I-35 look. And maybe do something like put up something to give the feel of being closed in.

Could be something as simple as a Giant wall in front of the north walking path with past players, logos etc.... That gives it that 360 feel. think of it like selling your house. doing something to make it look bigger, intimate etc...

I long for the day where we all know what the official capacity is. Its like yep. 60,243. Thats it. No more
With GA hills we will never be able to do that.

Cant believe I am seriously talking about the NEZ right now. I just want to win 6+ games next year. That makes everything better.

I know we have some handicap seating above the last row of bleachers in the lower sections now. Not sure how they count that. Just know that the word is that the expanded stadium will have an official capacity of over 61,000. So just leave it at that. We jammed in 56,800 people to our game against K-State in 2012.

We presently have 44,529 seats plus the hillsides. So it looks like we got 12,271 people on the four hillsides for that K-State game.

One thing I'm really curious about is that there was a LOT of talk about how the new project had to coordinate/blend with the Reiman Gardens before it could ever be kicked off. Yet nowhere in any of the renderings or project discussion are the Gardens mentioned or shown to "blend" or have any connection to the project in any way. Was that conversation simply a stall-tactic by JP at the time? Or is that phase 2.6?

From the press release:

In addition to the stadium renovation, Iowa State officials continue to review concepts for a second phase of the project which will include improvements to the parking and green space areas adjacent to the facility. Those project specifics will be presented to the Board of Regents at a later date. The stadium renovation plus the parking and green space enhancements are all part of a $60 million upgrade to the primary campus entrance and football facility.

They're still working with Recreation Services on parking lot space potentially with the current rec fields...

Thanks. I missed that part. "Let me Google that for me."

The QC
I have walked in with Hillside seats at least 30 times, I have never sat my butt on the grass. In the rare times I can't find a seat, I'll stand in front of the boxes on the west side right on the 50. I figure I'm not alone.

My point being that I doubt there are never more than 2,000 per hillside for any game. The rest stand or squeeze into the stands.

As a Cyclone fan that contributed to the original construction of Jack Trice Stadium I am happy to see this expansion become a reality. Huge plus for ISU.

So you are admitting you are a cheapskate and that you sit in a higher priced seat than what you paid for?

Cool.

They counted some of the jr. Cyclone folks too before as season tickets. Unless they give the Jr's seats the north will be almost All Jr's and family members. 2. Jr's are smaller 2. Many didn't go to every game but technically could of.
