Almost wish I hadn't read that. That's incredibly frustrating.

For real. If all of that is 100% accurate, with the dumpster fire that football is becoming/is already, I just don't know what to think about Pollard.

Re: Hoiberg and ISU admin relationship

Apologies, didn't see it posted by Hines after I had read the article... But was then posted as I posted.

If Pollard truly was jealous of Hoiberg's popularity, that's extremely petty and disappointing. Adoring Fred and still giving Pollard credit for what he's done aren't mutually exclusive to our fans

Very interesting read.

Seems like a lot of sources confirmed some of this info...I hope JP treats all coaches/programs appropriately/fairly (not playing favorites), but also hope he doesn't nickel and dime...and didn't work with Fred and his staff when requests were not out of line.

Only at ISU do you run off the native hero, if true, incredibly disappointing.

That needs to be untrue, because if true, that's about the most unprofessional way to treat your people there can be.

I hope it's untrue. My opinion of Pollard will really sour if it is

Yeah, I hope that isn't the case....when you have the golden boy, let him be golden and ride that hype with him..don't push it away. Believe me, I am SOOOO glad Pollard did what others probably wouldn't have done (hired a coach with no experience) and he should have understood most fans credit him for that daring move and each bit of success made him look smarter.

I've been all for keeping Jamie for all the upgrades he's brought to Iowa State, but I'm now on the fire Jamie bandwagon.

I don't think Pollard and anyone from the Ames Trib are going to have dinner together anytime soon

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

All that stuff seems like somebody who is penny wise and pound foolish. Sure, it probably didn't make a lot of sense to pay a couple thousand for hotel rooms for what seems like a late afternoon or evening flight. But it does make sense to do that if it'll **** off the guy who is making you millions. Sure, it doesn't make sense for ISU to being paying for coaches families to fly with the team unless it is part of their contracts. But it looks bad if you charge them and fly your own families for free (especially since it isn't like the assistants are raking in the dough). To me the more damning stuff is pressure to move away from transfers and shaming Hoiberg over his salary.

Does Jamie not realize how quickly all those donations and ticket sales will dissipate if our success doesn't continue? How risky it was to lose Hoiberg?

Re: Travis Hines: A look into the ISU BBall program and the Athletic Dept

You can talk the talk about wanting to be a first class program, but making people sleep in a ballroom to save a ew bucks is second class. As a Coach having to compete with KU and UK for recruits how do you keep credibility if they see this type of thing? You can bet UK or KU take better care of their coaches/players than represented in this article

I don't think this caused Fred to go, but it may have made his decision a bit easier. Pollard does not want to pay Coaches top salaries on our Conference and that is clear.

It also may shed some light on the low production value and the lack of alternate uniforms, etc. Pollard may not want to spend the money on marketing or what he sees as not adding revenue.

You can't discount the amount of improvements that Jamie has ade facilities wise, but it appears we are going to keep low coaching salaries for his tenure.

Yeah, seemed like it. I know he has good sources and I believe pretty close to Fred. Hines usually does a great job of reporting while not throwing out garbage or inside info that will hurt his relationships..this was a bit daring of an article....maybe he felt he needed to "clear the air?"

I certainly hope that, if any of the story was true, that was a leaning point for Fred and the NBA...but, as all of you know that work, work politics are real and can make one change jobs or lean toward changing if the environment isn't what you'd like.
