Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Marcus Smart's stock was in great shape if he would have remained a one and done. Instead he decided to stick around and prove to everyone that he is animal crackers.
You are correct, but I think with him sticking around and imploding I think it made RV think about it. There is no promise of one good year, it could just be implode on the national stage. Easier to stay in the JV and look like Jordan.

Not piling on you fsan, and it has been brought up before 1000x. What actual PROOF is there that anything dirty actually happened? Heresay is all well and good, and it goes on everyone knows that, but seriously. What does it ALWAYS have to be dirty recruiting? Maybe he made friends with a couple of the other guys that committed and wanted to play with them. Maybe he just likes living in Vegas. Maybe he wants to be the actual star of the team, and not share the spotlight with Georges/Monte/Thomas. To blame it entirely on dirty recruiting is lame and lazy.

Guess you can read Wolfson's tweet a couple of ways 1) BS means, that is what happens sometimes. Or BS means that someone had his own interests at heart and used a kid to get them..

Loads of pages a back there was a story about L.E. and an handler and what he wanted to deliver a kid to ISU.

Dirty business, but then again, we knew there was a risk with this one given the handler situation.

College basketball is just a step to him. That's why he chose whatever they have at UNLV over everything we have at ISU.

Anyone trying to solve this puzzle with the pros and cons of the two schools can only come to one ultimate conclusion. Some fans want to live in the land of sunshine, lollipops and rainbows, thus they don't want to face that truth.

Our coaches are good people, and I feel so sorry for them.

UNLV must have given him an offer he couldn't refuse $$$. seriously feel bad for the Coaching staff..

If you read Abdelmassih's tweets you can almost assume that's what he's talking about. Pathetic a team recruits a kid for 4 years and he decides to go to a school who was recruiting him for 5 months. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm

My gut tells me that this wasn't 100% Vaughn's decision and he played 2 guys that were most likely nothing but good to him.

The good thing is he didn't string this out until April, but I have a feeling that the coaches really did think they had a shot.

Maybe fanatic and RV had some sort of deal. Millions of page views! Fanatic owes RV a nice seafood dinner and hopefully never call him again.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

I think the thing people are missing here is how many recruits we either passed on or cooled on by leaving this scholarship open. Someone before mentioned Nick Babb and J.P. Marcura. I'm not sure what happened with Cunningham, but that's another one. People have said "I'd rather have Georges Niang for 4 years than Nerlens Noel for 1." That's great and I completely agree. But while we held a scholarship open for "our Nerlens", we may have had to pass on a dozen "Georges'".

Yep, was thinking the same thing. Nobody cares what you do on a Wednesday night game at Laramie Wyoming. Big fish in the little pond, get paid in a year, and support your family. Can't blame him.

I 100% think that he or the handler is getting paid. Naz went to Findlay Prep, I'm sure he told the staff what goes on there.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Kinda sucks we lost out on other players like Cunningham while trying to get someone who would rather be somewhere like UNLV who was probably the worst option out of the his final 8.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

Well, best of luck to Vaughn playing on the Mountain West Network every game instead of national TV and getting more exposure. Worst options out of his final schools. UK, UNC, Kansas, and ISU would all be much better picks.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Tuesday

It is a lot to put on a kid's plate, but if it truly came down to UNLV and ISU, then his decision should have been an easy one.

Go play for the slimy used car salesman guy, or the classy, professional young guy with all the NBA connections. RV chose the fake glitz and glamour that the slimy used car salesman guy was selling him. I just hope he doesn't regret his decision. Good luck to him.

Dave Rice was a Rhodes Scholar candidate, coached at BYU, and has a great nonprofit. Obviously these don't mean he's not slimy, but I'm not quite sure where you're getting that from.

I'll just laugh when news comes out of his handler being hired on at UNLV.
