Re: Rashad Vaughn

I know multiple high school seniors who don't know where they're going to college yet. It's kind of a big decision.

Stop using logic. If you keep this up, the people ITT won't have anything to complain about.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Let me partially retract my statement and say that this thread on CF has made his recruitment seem long and drawn out. Daily, this thread keeps getting pushed to the front page for no other reason than to have it there. If people would let it die and only post when actual information comes forth, my thoughts/feelings would be different. Reminds me of a bunch of children asking if they can have something over and over and over and over and over again.

THIS.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I know regular kids decide late on where they want to go to college, but Vaughn is what, one of 3 kids not to choose a school yet out of the top 100 players?

He can wait as long as he wants but it is unusually late for a person in his position.

But like I said, it's his decision and he can take as long as he wants.

Him waiting got Kentucky back in the picture. They had backed off of him and now they want him again (they expressed new interest after the fall signing period). Kentucky is probably the team he'll go to. So, in his case, waiting paid off.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I too am sick of the drawn out recruitment, but I've come to the realization that we're going to be pretty damn good next year even without RV. If he chooses another school, we'll probably land a scoring guard on the transfer market and fill that need regardless.

With Fred's reputation and the success of guys like Kane et al, most immediate transfers, are going to consider ISU.

I guess that helps me deal with the insecurity and anxiety that a long recruitment like his brings out in people.

If RV doesn't come here I hope we can snag an immediately eligible combo-guard. The front court is pretty well stacked for the next 2 years.

I don't know why people are getting up in arms. He's said from the get-go that he wasn't going to announce until April. And he's doing just that. It's not like he's giving everyone false promises.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

He goes to a school where one of the things they consult on is marketing yourself for your career as a basketball player. As mentioned in some posts above, he can garner Wiggins like attention by waiting. With that said, I think he is going to go to a school that gets or has a lot of national attention for BB, of his 5 that would be KU, UNC or Kentucky. Of course UNLV as well. I still hope we get him, but I am not feeling great about it now that Kentucky got back in the game. And that Kaffey dude, I don't his involvement in this one bit.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I hope he goes to isu, anywhere else would be heartbreaking. We have been recruiting him the longest and literally have done everything you could think of to get him. He's seen two amazing games in Hilton, both won. He had fans cheering him all the way into Hilton as he was driving by. Isu has dreamy for a coach which should be good enough then you add the #1 offense most similar to the NBA in all of college ball. You have maybe the best arena and fans to play in front of. You also would be "the guy" on a possible elite 8 or better team. Lastly you could be a program changer. Don't want to see him go to unlv because just would be ridiculous to join in so late on a recruit and get him. Plus don't want to have their fans come on here to brag. Don't want UNC because well they steal all of our dang recruits. Don't want Ku because I don't want to see a player we want so bad going against us two games a year. And don't want UK because its UK. How fair is it that they can pretty much tell a kid we don't want you now but if we don't get the guys we really want well settle for you.

Well that got long

If he goes to a different school it definitely wouldn't be heartbreaking, not one bit. This is about what my reaction would be: "oh well, let's get the next one".

That's a good attitude to approach this with. I'm not going to be one of the crazy gopher holes but I'd be lying to you if I said I wouldn't be irritated and disappointed

Re: Rashad Vaughn

hmmmm. I respect your opinion, but I wouldn't wish Calipari or Roy on anyone.

I would rather have him go to unlv. Of all the schools in the hunt that coach seems to be the best at underutilizing talent so at the end of the day his commitment elsewhere wont hurt us.

Ya, I certainly don't want him to go to KU because they are a conference foe. I cannot stand Cal and Roy, so that leaves me with UNLV should he go elsewhere. UNLV is rather harmless, IMO.

well if he ends up at UNLV..........then you got to figure we lost out to some under the table doings - that team is falling apart. If you are a top 10 recruit - probably do better by getting on National TV and someone that can compete come March so you can show your talents. I know Anthony Bennet just came from UNLV, but look what he has done in the NBA :twitcy:

I'm with you on Cal and Roy for the reasons you stated. I also have a problem with UNLV though, because they are just plain shady, IMO. They're not even on his radar, and then he goes to the prep school in Vegas, and all of a sudden they're one of the leaders in his recruitment. Just doesn't pass the smell test with me. And for me that leaves KU. If he didn't go to ISU, and went to KU, it sure would make beating KU feal that much better....

As an Iowa State fan I wouldn't be bringing up other schools' 1st rounders who didn't pan out. ISU doesn't exactly have a stellar track record in that regard in the last dozen years.

Still think UNLV is the most likely non-ISU destination. Less competition at the wing than KU or UNC, local team, mentor at Findlay, etc. Plus I bet he's getting an earful about UNLV about every day. And probable ISU bashing, unless we're ignored.

The flip side is maybe he just likes having the local team on his list. Did while in Minnesota, then added UNLV when he went there. So who knows.

This. We're going to have to get used to losing some top 50 recruits and learn to deal with the process that goes with it, because we aren't going to be recruiting very many high schoolers that are not at that level in the future. We'll lose some guys like Vaughn and we'll win some guys like Vaughn.

The transfer policy just makes everything easier to live with. Instead of falling back on some 2-3 star high schooler with upside we'll be falling back on former top 50 guys and 5th year SR's that have been through the battles and are infinitely more valuable than all but the very best incoming Freshman.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If the priority choice was just based on coaches it would be:

1. Fred
2. Bill
3. Roy
4. John
5. Who?
