Re: Rashad Vaughn

I know you're joking, but I'm amazed how many grown adults are "bored" or "tired" or "annoyed" by his recruitment. He doesn't give a **** and he shouldn't.

As a grown adult, I stand by my "i've gotten bored with the recruitment" statement.
There's just been very little going on with it so I got bored. Not sure why that bothers anyone.

Like his final 5 though; still think ISU makes as much sense as anyone. Be interesting to see where he goes!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm glad ISU made the final 5 list. I have to be honest though, after reading the Trib article, I'm also a little concerned about his "mentor" situation. Sometimes those situations and whatever "arrangements" may be involved can come back to bite the school in the *** a year or two after the recruit is done playing. I want to believe that ISU would not be stupid enough to get involved in such a situation, but.....

If you don't trust Fred there is no point in being a fan at this point.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn didn't even have them in his top 5, and they choked in their bowl game all in the same day. If there are any gopherholes out there lurking, this is for you:

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Disappointed we didn't make the top five, but it'd been pretty clear for a while he wasn't ending up here. As per usual, I wish him no success in his basketball career, and hope that whatever team he ends up endures near constant disappointment in their basketballing hopes and dreams. However, I will say, and of course, this sounds very sour grapes, and perhaps it is, but I'm secretly a bit relieved. I'd rather fail attempting to succeed the right way than to actually succeed the wrong way. Clem hurt. And whichever school gets Rashad, it's absolutely clear that they're selling their soul to get him. It's slim consolation, but if I wanted to cheer for Calipari, I'd be a Kentucky fan right now. I hope Pitino is able to craft a winning program the right way with his 2015 class.

*facepalm

Whatever softens the blow I guess.

That is funny. He actually mentions the words "Pitino" and "the right way" in the same sentence.

Here is a fun article that rates last year's NCAA qualifiers based on their history of violations. Also rates them based on 6 degrees to Rick Pitino and/or Jerry Tarkanian. I guess the Gophers would be 1 degree of separation from Rick Pitino.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I wonder in Minny getting cut had anything to do with recent articles and other crappy feedback from Minn people.

I would have really expected him to keep them in until the end as a nice gesture.

Also this just in, in response Scott Drew called time out.

After a Baylor dunk against iowa.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I would be upset if we hired someone who plead guilty for aggravated robbery. Also, if they used a gun to pistol whip some dude, is that not considered armed robbery? Or are aggravated robbery and armed robbery the same thing? Either way, I would rather not have a felon on our team.

What else would you use to pistol whip someone?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Rashad,
You will not find a stronger or more loved fan base than us here at Iowa State. We've been after you since you left the 8th grade, and will continue to follow you through your NBA career. As I'm sure you are quickly finding out from visit to visit, you will not find a finer coach(s), teammates, fans, and all around support as you will get from the Cyclone Nation. Some recruits are going for the traditional Big schools, and as you can see, it doesn't always work out for them. The top talent in the nation does not Always go East. You can accomplish what you are after from nearly any school in the country. But like I said, you won't find a better place than ISU and coach Fred Hoiberg to "sling-shot" you to the NBA. With the talent Fred has coming in next year, we should be a final four team... with you on board? ...well, that's just the candle in the cake! PLEASE, let us always welcome you here to Iowa State with open arms. Have a safe New Year, and remember us come decision time.
