The team has no facility to do a meal so that immediately starts digging into any proceeds. Then there are product costs, having a health inspections certified individual in the kitchen and pretty soon you are on the hook for a lot without a guarantee you are getting it all back.
Really? I have never seen any sort of health inspector at any fundraiser I have been to. We used to do a Game Feed and Breakfast every year. Now just the Cajun dinner and we never have had any sort of health inspector. I guess state laws vary or we have been breaking a lot of laws over the years.

What the heck is that thing? I've seen a few laying around before but I have no idea what they're good for. Maybe they come off those old tvs that you had to turn the dials like I've always read about.

It's too bad that she picked those dates but the Cub bagging for our tennis team raises really good money in a short amount of time and with only a few girls. The tennis team does a steak fry and it does raise more money but it involves a lot more people and a lot more work.

That KC tourney must be huge. All of our neighbors that do travelling soccer have been there multiple times. I believe @coolerifyoudid's daughter plays in it. You could probably stay at his house.

edit: The amount you stated for Cub seems about right. I think the tennis team raised about $600 in 4 hours.

There are a stupid amount of tournaments in KC, but this past weekend was the HIT (Heartland Invitational Tournament) and it's probably the biggest. They normally get 450-500 teams with a fair number coming from out of state. Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma teams are regulars. There will be games going from 7-10pm. We like the HIT because friends of ours from Altoona usually come down and we got a chance to catch up. We normally travel for one tourney a year. I've selfishly lobbied for Iowa, but I've always been over-ruled....dammit.

My daughter typically plays in two tourneys in the fall and two in the spring. However, whenever tournaments struggle to fill slots, they'll reach out to local clubs last minute and offer slots at discounted prices. As a result, she's played in three so far with her team, guest played in two more and just added another the first weekend of December. We are playing 2 teams from South Dakota in that one (supposedly some of their top teams, so that could be interesting)

Anyways, if anyone travels down to KC for a tourney, reach out to me. I'm certainly not above coming out to cheer your kid on and buying you a drink after a game.

My son goes there and the younger daughter will next year. We like the school. The teacher's and admin are pretty good. Too bad the girl's soccer team got beat so early at state. How's she liking it so far?
She really likes it. I took a car full of kids to the State game at the Bank. I hate losing to MG. It is as bad as losing to Maplebrook in traveling soccer. A lot of the same kids and they play the same way as well. The play rougher than the game needs to be and I was amazed at the amount of talking back at the officials there was.

She is deciding today if she is going to go out for Nordic skiing. She's never CC skied before, but that isn't uncommon. They say 95% of their team members over the years haven't either. If she does at least she will be in shape for soccer in the spring. ;)

Not a health inspector, but you have to have a person who is responsible for the kitchen that has gone through their mandatory food safety training. I'm pretty sure none of us have it so we would have to find someone (probably not free) or pay the facility to have their person there. We have a guy in the KoC who has gone through it and he has to be at all of our breakfasts and dinners to be compliant.

And, did I mention this is Minnesota? Of course the rules are different...

I stopped at one fundraiser last year and these people must have never done anything like that before. Completely unorganized. I got there about 1/2 hour after their advertised start time and things were still not heated. I was the only person there at the time.

This is another excellent reason not to do one. I know which parents on that team would want to be in charge and making decisions. They are exactly the ones who should not be if we are going to be even modestly successful. I don't think it would be a good risk.

I have no interest in leading people who have never done one through it, but I would probably get drafted because I am involved in our KoC breakfasts and dinners.

So let's stop talking about doing one before one of them hear us. o_O

A local KoC does a wild game feed every year that is always sold out a year in advance. They donate $3,000 to our charity every year.

I'll look for you at P&L during the Big XII tournament next spring. And I'd gladly buy you a drink! ;)

After an amusing delay due to error, the job is mine.

Shockingly low pay. It's really an adjunct thing under another name, but about twice what DMACC pays, and they'll bother to do it in a realistic time.
And it's ISU, which is really the only thing I want.

Which you'll need to pay for your brakes. (Sorry, I didn't mean that in a snippy way.)

Did you snap into a slim Jim? I had one of those a couple years ago and gagged from the 70% fat ratio in them.

I think it was organic or some such....whatever was in the fridge. Ya'll might not believe this, but I am watching Urban Cowboy again. It is fascinating in some wierd, train-wreck kind of way. 1980. Bad corporate country music. bad fake accents. Debra Winger.
