It is still far from certain but we are solidly in the Tournament conversation. Anyone that thinks we for sure will make it needs to slow down but the general consensus is we have a decent shot and will likely be a bubble team.

JFC, idiot. Making the tournament is the goal every year. Why the **** should we be pumping brakes on that or thinking we have no shot with us playing markedly better? No one is saying we are a shoe in or anything. Sure, we have gone from pessimistic to cautiously optimistic but why wouldn't we?

If we were like 4-6 and the threads were full of kool aid guzzlers saying we were for sure NCAA bound I might toss out a mock or two but we've rebounded to 8-2.

The guy is dumb. Pump the brakes on what, optimism? Give me a break. If you are going to throw out team statistics for why we "won't make the tournament, if it started today," you need to look at removing the first two games from your analysis. Those are clear outliers in all senses of the word. Missing two key players, almost no experience on the team, positions weren't established yet, and predictably we lost them both. Since then, the team has played much better and I would imagine the adjusted rankings of offense and defense would tell a different story if you exclude those first two games.

I get it when people say how many great resume opportunities we'll have in the Big12 to help the team get to the dance. I think we would have a better chance if we finished 9-9 or above for 5th with more struggling teams below us quite frankly. This big12 seems almost too overwhelming. Natl. gurus galore (Rothstein, Katz, Goodman, take your pick) have said the same. Oh well, have to beat the best to be the best. (Just bracing myself for later when hearing how 9-9 in the big10 is just as good as it would be in the big12. NOT!!!!)

Too early to put more than beer money on making the tournament? Yes.
Too early to talk? Hell no. This is a message board, after all.

Imo we aren’t going to make it, but that in itself is talking about tournament possibilities.

One thing I find intriguing. Last three years we have referred to the Big 12 / SEC challenge as a pointless game with the outcome meaningless to our conference standings or tournament seeding. Then we become a possible bubble team and it is huge. Thrown right in the middle of the Big 12 schedule and for this year, at least, it is a borderline must win.

I don’t know why it had to be so extreme. It will be hard to make the tournament but we are in position to do it.

It would be nice if those (not the original poster) who seem so he’ll bent on dashing everyone’s hopes, would not be the first ones to completely lose their **** when we lose a game.
