I think that he should have gotten/taken an increase in compensation. It is well deserved even in a tough economic situation.

Yes?Who do Iowa Fans hate worse?
a) Jamie Pollard
b) Gary Barta
He isn’t perfect and he has his quirks but I’ll be damned if I would want anyone but him in that job. Today is a good day to be a Cyclone.

Agree, but they could have included increases say in 2022 and beyond. That would show restraint in tough economic times and yet compensate him fairly for the job that he is doing. A salary freeze for 5 years is a bit over doing it. May be the contract could be revisited in a year or two.I get where you are coming from, but I think Pollard is also a big lead-by-example type of guy in these tough times we are going through, and not taking a pay increase is a statement in and of itself to back his message. Props to him for being that type of guy.
I imagine the Alvarez retirement had something to possibly do with this?
Jamie’s youngest graduates from high school this year.
I’m not sure when his contract was supposed to end, but it’s good to know that they aren’t looking to jump now that they will be empty nesters.
FWIW, a couple of weeks back K-State's AD, Gene Taylor, got a 30% salary bump to just short of a million/annum and 2027 extension. Rumor was that Wisconsin wanted to chat with him. I imagine Pollard was on their list as well.

K-State gives AD Taylor extension with raise
Kansas State and athletic director Gene Taylor agreed to a contract extension Wednesday that includes a significant jump in base salary to $925,000 per year and would keep him directing the Wildcats through June 2027.www.espn.com

He was absolutely one of the people Wisconsin should have been looking at with his ties there and his track record of success, and it always seemed like a job that he would be interested in.
This extension needed to be done if we had any hope of Campbell sticking around longterm. He is an amazing AD, and has earned an extension and a raise (even though he didnt get one with this extension), but this is huge for keeping Campbell and continuing to build what theyre building.
Brings him in-line with some of the other Big 12 ADs, which as a group are at the top in the country. Pollard's salary is currently $903.000/yr?
With the pandemic cut, he was earning $689,325. Under the new contract he'll get a 2% increase July 1st this year and next, with $25k raises to follow assuming satisfactory job reviews.
7/1/21: $703,125
7/1/22: $717,225
7/1/23: $742,225
7/1/24: $767,225

OK, thanks.
I took the $903,000 figure from BlueGold's Kevin Kinder's article on Big12 AD salaries.
