Florida Man strikes again. This sicko got caught with his pants down looking in the window of a fifteen year old girl, who just happens to be the daughter of former NFL player Tony Beckham. Beckham caught him after a very brief chase and the ensuing "conversation" left the peeping tom with multiple bruises and broken bones in his face.

As much as it really sucks to type this, if he wanted to press charges against Beckham, wouldn't it be almost a lock for Beckham to get charged with some form of assault since he wasn't being threatened or in self defense mode?

I feel like I've seen cases where someone breaks into a house, poses more of a physical threat, gets their ass beat and then sues the home owner and wins.

To be clear, I'm 100% for what happened to this dude. Having a daughter of my own, I would probably have practiced less restraint.

Wherever I go, there I am.

The short answer is yes.

I would guess it depends. If there are no witnesses (very possible...anyone who saw what happened would probably think what he did was right and keep quiet) and if there is no video (less likely considering it was a residential area...there was probably a smart phone or closed circuit system that caught something) then it would be his word against the perp. He could claim self defense in a very one sided fight.

I can't imagine at least one lawyer seeing this story involving a former NFL player and salivating into the bowl of human souls that they keep on their desk.

If it went to trial, what jury would convict the ex football player for beating up a guy who was peeping on his 15 year old daughter?

But what if it isn't a jury? If it's a bench trial it only takes one judge. And even if that goes in Beckham's favor there's still an appeals process that would cost him even more in legal fees. I would think that if a suit was filed against him the best thing to do would be to settle out of court and be done with it. Call it a beatdown tax.

I'm pretty sure criminal prosecutors (State Attorneys) are elected in Florida. Good luck finding one that would approve bringing that to trial.

Also, I'm pretty sure it is illegal to peep like that and with the victim being a minor the peeper may be lucky to just get out of that with a beating.

True, but there's still the possibility of a civil suit. That's where the money is, anyway.

Why would the football player waive his right to a trial by jury?
