Anyone else having issues with withdrawals from online betting sites?

I use Sportsbook and have always received a check via DHL within a week. However, now they are changing banks and systems and I've had a withdrawal pending for 4 weeks now. They say withdrawals are now processed between 3 and 5 weeks.

They are also now offering options for withdrawal methods and I'm wondering if there are any catches or risks in proceeding this way? Here's one of the current options:

I am delighted to announce that our processing partners have just launched two new withdrawal solutions available to you:

Debit Card: You can now receive your payout direct to an International Debit Card (mailed to you if you choose this method) that can be used worldwide at any ATM or Merchant displaying the sign. Your withdrawals (maximum $10,000) will be processed directly to the card and once loaded you will have instant access to the funds. Additionally, you also have the option to deposit using the same card.

I really wish they would open a sportsbook up somewhere around Des Moines. Then again.. my bank account is probably glad there isn't one.

Call them... keep calling them...

Threaten to close your account with them. They will bend over backwards sometimes to keep you on their site.

I am more interested to see if anyone has experience with the "Debit Card" option mentioned above?

Also, having a sportsbook nearby is in fact fun and dangerous. I'm lucky to have one 20 min away in Canada.

I was with betus last year and had a very hard time getting my money, thus they lost me back to sportsbook. After reading your above post it makes me wonder if this will be my last year with an online site.

Your problems are not the fault of the betting site.

You are having problems because of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA) snuck through Congress 2 and half years ago, with no debate, tacked onto a completely unrelated port security bill (despite the fact that all polls show a strong majority of Americans believe online gaming sould be legal). Thank Bill Frist, Jim Leach, and many of the other members of Congress from 2 years ago.

The Dept. Of Justice is making it tougher to get your money back from sites my nailing banks who process payments. Pathetic, huh? Thats what our Govt is spending its time on.... keeping you from betting online on the Cyclones. I guess they would rather you go your local bookie.

If you want to be able to bet online, now is the time to write your Congressman. There are several bills being considered in the House now to legalize and regulate online gaming. Many are pushed by Barney Frank, a Congressman from out east.

I suggest you all write or email your Congressman if you like to bet online, or if you just believe in freedom. Because in a free country you damn sure should be able to bet $50 on your Cyclones online from your own home witih your own hard earned money if you want to.

That is what confuses me though, they have no problem taking my money and updating my account instantly, using my bank issued CC. Putting the money back on the same card shouldn't be that much different. I would think that is the above issue was all this was about it would be much harder to deposit.

Believe me, it is completely differnt. For one thing, most credit card companies don't look too kindly on charge backs. Not too mention that the gov't doesnt want them doing business with online gaming sites.

CloneIce,
Yeah it is a bunch of crap. Somehow betting on horseraces is ok. Somehow state sponsored lotteries and casinos are ok but online gambling will send you straight to hell. Just like our political system, hypocrisy across the board.

Bingo. Write your Congressman. I have written all of mine, and all but one responded back to me.

People need to know that Americans still believe in personal freedom!

Some cards won't let you play "gaming" sites. They have an automatic denial thing. I used to have problems with online poker a few years ago with it and had to get a new credit card so I could play for real money. I now stick to all free games because it was getting to addictive. I would be up all night playing hold 'em until the wee hours in the morning when I had to work the next day. I recently tried joining a site again and I couldn't deposit any money because of the new laws in place. I was mad and glad at the same time.

To answer your question about the debit card option, I used it through bodog and it worked fine for awhile.. then a few weeks ago I tried to withdraw money and was informed my account was under investigation. It took weeks of complaining to bodog and finally they just returned the money back into my betting account. So I think they must have started cracking down recently.

The Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act has made it illegal for American institutions to do money transfers with gambling sites, so it's a real pain now. I used to use NetTeller, but now I'll just withdraw from FullTilt Poker via check. Hopefully poker will be exempt from this law in the future.

Someone on here just needs to provide the rest of us with a local bookie...that way I can lose my money to someone close instead of 1,000's of miles away.

I just went and put real money, no offense CyBookie, on ISU and TT to cover, lets see if this was a wise move. If it ends up working out, I will tell you how my withdrawl experience goes.
