I'd give the O line an A for pass blocking and a C for run blocking. B+ overall. UNI is pretty stout in the front 7, and I think the guys did pretty well, though they're going to get better.

Our defensive front 7 had some rough moments, but also some really good ones. I'll say B- there, but I'm encouraged from what I saw with so many new faces in that group.

Bull, they are dominating a VERY good Defensive Line...a mid-level Big 12 type unit.

Ok, your sarcasm is thick here, but this same FCS line has dominated our line on both sides of the ball the last half dozen or so times we've played them. Dominating the trenches in this game is definitely progress.

I thought Park looked fairly "pedestrian" passing, as a whole ... but he finished 27-of-35. I can appreciate efficiency.

Most of the incompletions were drops too. I only remember two bad passes all day; the interception and one low pass on a screen pass. Maybe the one that went off Lazards hands was a little high, but catchable. Otherwise spot on darts.

OL wasnt great..but it wasnt bad..pass protection was good...UNI early in game but 7 in box and where determined to not let ISU run ball..so what do we do...try run ball. First half play calling IMO was bad..very conservative and some bad calls by manning...2nd half gloves came off and once we realized we have 4-6 pretty good WR's then things changed and it allowed Montgomery to go into beast mode..MOntgomery is a man..dude is real deal..he will have 1000yds this year if he stays healthy.

Overall...Hey look we start the season 1-0 for godsakes and did it in fairly convincing fashion.
In first game you have to get film of all facets of your game for training purposes. There is way more to it than winning in a early non league game in my opinion.

There was one on the first drive that should have been intercepted as well. Generally, Park struggled to open but looked good by the second quarter. He needs to come out next week ready to go.

Sat down to watch the game and here come 2 heavyset Purple Hok fans - I hate the ticket holders next to me who sell or give their tickets to the opposition. Damn I am buying an extra seat just to keep it empty and no rival scum to sit there. CLONES - sell to a Clone fan. Don't fall under the evil spell of $$$>

Yeah, because no Cyclone fans are heavyset, am I right? Wut?

Why the pure hatred?? Did they do anything in particular to you, besides cheering for their team? If not, I guess I just don't get it.

We had several UNI fans sitting in front of us, and they were just fine. Cheered on their team, cheered for both bands, they stood and cheered for our basketball team when they got their rings, etc, etc. Of course they didn't cheer for ISU, but never yelled anything negative towards ISU or anything either.

Way up there
JMO. Blum gives out much more info and specifics concerning plays than Walters, and Sage is, well, a former college football player. He has more insight.

I like both guys and think they did a great job I agree 100 on Blum being great (maybe not better than JW) but at times, Sage is a little "canned", he kind of just gives you that "coach/player speak", it comes off superficial and not very insightful IMO. He's not alone, almost all former players do it, he just doesn't have a ton of experience yet. He also has a love affair with the small town Iowa kids on UNI's roster, he seemed to actually be more knowledgeable about a lot of those kids than ISU's.

On one of his radio spots last week he talked about he's been pushing Campbell a bit to recruit the state harder. Which makes sense. There were several "home grown" contributors on the teams he quarterbacked. And he's right, with the caveat being that if you recruit more in state kids most of them won't be ready to contribute for a year or two minimum. Campbell doesn't have that luxury. He inherited a program in desperate need of a quick talent infusion.

But back on topic - thrilled to see them take care of business last night and look forward to the Cyhawk game. It should be a good one.

BTW apologies to @brentblum and Sage for having the Cy Tv crew initially listed wrong in my OP. Usually outside of the road Cy Tv games at Texas ISU FB and BB games listed as CyTv were just video with audio from John and Eric.

Late to the discussion, but the the way our team overcame adversity impressed me the most about the win. Lots of things to work on, but overcoming mistakes is a huge positive from my view.

Seem to be working this drive.

I literally posted that and then they started having some success on the outside. The successful plays I saw were more the ones going downhill...Ryen seems to fit those well.

I was more referencing the direct horizontal screens. That's a tough block for the lead, a tough catch and run, and an easy read for the corner.

It is more reliant on the defensive presnap alignment than anything the offense does. I am fine with it being called and let Park and the receivers audible out of it. I would like to see us play action a delayed go route out of it if DBs start cheating.

Yep, and the one I saw (I had delays/cut outs on CyTV) looked like the defensive alignment wasn't considered very well. :)
