For pregame prediction award I'm making it co-award. Ron had the score pretty much dead on but Cyhig is coming off surgery and while we didn't open up the playbook ISU did give him the convincing victory he wanted to see.

Thanks! Not bad for a fan “that doesn’t pay attention.”

Right, I don't know who thought we were going to come out with a double reverse, then go 4 wide run and shoot. Stupid. The same people complaining now would be saying they put too much on film for Iowa. It wasn't a good offense before, it's not going to change over night. The game was over at halftime, wtf was he supposed to do?
I'm glad that they at least took a couple shots down field. It is always going to be tough to throw and run against a defense that only has to defend the first 12-15 yards of the field. I wish they would have done a little bit more, but I fully understand that CMC knew the game was over at halftime and he pretty well put in the reserves, especially on the defensive side.

His play jumped out at me too..nice surprise! Player development on that side of the ball stands out every year. Heacock is honestly the best defensive coordinator I've seen. If he ever decides to retire I hope Rasheed steps in.

My kool aid take is the defense has speed and physicality at all three levels.

It’s not “surprise”, FWIW.

We had 250 total yards of offense. 250. Call it vanilla all you want. I call it ashy.
We only ran 45 plays. We also started 3 drives at the UNI 21 (TD), UNI 38 (FG) and ISU 47. That is all going to limit total yards.

We averaged 5.6 yards per play. 6.4 yards per pass attempt and 5.0 yards per rush.

7 drives were 3 and out. That limits yards also.

Super encouraged based on performance today. Offense was lax at times, however, UI will have little to no film on Rocco. To top it all off, as much as the big 12 teams are having a tough go of it today, I like our chances to win 5-6 games

This game...specifically ISU vs UNI...is always a lot about motivation.

With the entire world it seems picking ISU as a 0-12 trainwreck unable to cope with the players that were lost, we had all the motivation to prove something and none of the typical overconfidence of Big 12 vs FCS. Once it went to 30-3 you could see our guys lose intensity especially on defense while UNI kind of stayed with the usual relentless motivation they have against ISU.

On offense I think there's just a lot to work on, but on defense as the game wore on they played like a team up 30 in blistering heat.

Would like to see more of Becht. 10-13 for 113 and 2 TD with no picks is very efficient. TEs looked great. Norton and Sama need to be the 1-2 punch at RB. Oline will be serviceable.

Guessing you’re going to see plenty of Brecht next week. I like what I saw from Kohl, but in a future is positive type of way. He’s got a lot to learn about reading defenses and working progressions as would be expected for a freshman.

Brecht looked like he controlled the game. He’s not going to go out and win us games on his own, but he’ll compliment that defense just fine.

I only counted 6, since our first drive was more than 3 plays. Anyway, 3 of those drives were in the fourth quarter while we were up 30-3/9, and wanted to burn clock more than anything.

I'm not saying we looked great, but everyone has been saying if our defense is good and our offense is just average we will be much better this year. I think we showed that's in the cards, plus much better special teams units.
